My mom is a recent resident at SunnyHill . It was hard at the beginning and there was a lot of adjustment for her. The nursing staff, physical therapy dept and social workers were so helpful and kind. The place is kept so clean and they have lots of activities to do. Angie at the salon does a great job and has such a kind heart. I am so glad she is in good hands . Highly recommended this place for your loved ones.

Is a very great place my Dad by heart is at sunny hill and there's a lot of great nurses or cna 's there one that stands out her name is Angela she is a great person takes good care of my dad but there so many more that take good care Sunny Hill Nursing Home. Is a great place .

The place is pretty nice, I was told they are getting new beds and funiture in a few months. I just wish they had warm water when they shower. The windows are drafty and they get cold at night, especially those winter nights.

My mother moved to Sunny Hill after a stay in the hospital. She could not do much of anything when she left the hospital. She went to therapy 5 days a week. She would always ask when she could have her own room. I continually told her when she gets stronger, she could have her room. ( they actually have a waiting list ). After 100 days of physical therapy a room just so happened to come available. She was overjoyed with her new room and her pictures on her walls. She loved showing them to anyone that would come to her room. One of her doctors said at one time she is a very complex patient. You name it and she had it. After many years of in and out of the hospital, she called Sunny Hill her home. She got sick and had the flu and pneumonia. It was just too much for her and she passed away. Sunny Hill and all of their staff and terrific. From management to CNA to Nurses. All were great. I would strongly recommend Sunny Hill. It's a Hidden gem. Really check it out if you have a loved one that is needing extra care. Thank you, Sunny Hill for everything you have done for my mom.

Up until covid hit I would have given Sunny Hill a 5 star rating. The nursing staff are amazing and my dads favorite nurses were Kristina from Ireland on days and Marianne from the Philippines on pm's. The food is descent, very clean facility, lots of activities, beautiful grounds, great big bedrooms and staff I was so greatfull for until covid hit them hard. Unfortunately, he had contracted covid from a staff member...obviously. The residents were under quarantine and couldn't go out... Staff members have a life too so I understand how it goes and how covid gets into the facility. Dad was immediately transferred to the covid unit 2nd Ave. My father stopped eating there and the 2 nurses who had 18 patients. They just couldn't handle the work load. They couldn't even make a call to us and give us updates or report. I felt horrible for them they couldn't even do their jobs they were overwhelmed. Where was the help they needed? Prior to this they brought agency in to cover shifts. The nurses on 6th Avenue has no clue how bad my dad was and were seriously shocked and upset when he passed. They obviously didn't communicate with the other nurses that worked there. Maybe they would have helped 2nd Ave nurses and residents if they new how short staffed they were. I know from weekly and bi-weekly updates the staff and residents positive for covid was climbing fast in the last 4 month's but mostly October and November. Last I heard that the second wave of positive staff was 52 and residents 48. How could they run this facility with so many staff quarantined? The day he went into second avenue that was it. When I finally got dads nurse on the phone he was declining rapidly. I insisted they get him to the hospital. He was sent to St Joe's. He was treated for a UTI but nothing for covid and was sent back to Sunny Hill on oral antibiotics. He continued to decline and I wouldn't have even known until I persistently called the unit and the nurse said she didn't have time to update me. What oral antibiotics?? My dad couldn't eat or drink so how was he able to take his them. So called the nurse manager and again being aggressive got dad to Silver Cross hospital. Finally, but by now dad had viral pneumonia, heart damage, crazy elevated blood pressure, still a UTI dad was still not eating or getting any nutrition. Dad got the medication he needed but it was to late. Dad passed during the early hours of the morning he was going to come home on hospice. Yes, my father had a good long life but to see him not get the medical treatment he could have had when he was initially diagnosed he could have had a chance. His mind was sharp, he knew the staff and administrator Maggie personally. I so try to understand the magnitude of covid running thru a nursing home just so wish they had more hands to help the sick.
