What Families Think

Reviewers describe Smith Crossing as a clean, modern campus with warm, attentive staff who know residents by name, especially in independent living and rehabilitation. However, a detailed long-term account raises serious concerns about staffing levels and care quality once a resident needs more support, and a separate reviewer reported a physical decline during rehab due to insufficient therapy.

The Good

 • Staff described as caring, compassionate, and know residents by name
 • Facility called clean, modern, and inviting
 • Positive rehabilitation experience with specific staff praised by name
 • Full continuum allows aging in place across care levels

The Bad

 • One detailed report of understaffing once higher-level care is needed
 • One report of recurring UTIs and inconsistent special-diet handling
 • One report that rehab caused physical decline from lack of exercises
 • One reviewer cited a 2-star Medicare quality rating for skilled nursing

I lived at Smith Crossing for six years, three with my husband and three after he passed away. I moved to be closer to my kids and grandkids, but have fond memories of Smith Crossing's warm, welcoming community and caring, competent staff.

My mother was there for rehab as well as nursing care. As far as care, no complaints. We are still waiting for a refund and it's been nearly 5 months. We've jumped through all the hoops and still no results. Every time we talk to someone it seems as if some new paperwork is missing. The office needs to get their act together.

We have submitted the paperwork more than once, last time we overnights it May 13. It's nearly July and nothing.

This rehabilitation program cause a physical decline for my loved one. No “homework” or bed exercises were given. They rather have patients in bed, than help them regain their strength.

The staff is so kind and responsive to my needs. The food was very good and had variety. They washed my clothes which was a big relief for my wife. The physical and occupational therapy was excellent. If I had the need I would definitely return to this facility.

I normally do not write reviews, but feel compelled to acknowledge the great care I received at Smith Crossing for a recent rehab stay. I especially want to thank CNA Joc, Nurse Cathy, OT Shannon, and PT Renata. All the staff made my stay pleasant and bearable and are a real credit to their professions for their caring and compassion. CNA Joc was a ray of sunshine; I looked forward to my mornings with him. He would bring a smile to my face and allay my anxieties. He is top notch. He gave me excellent care in my transfers and getting me ready for the day. I felt so secure with him. Nurse Cathy, also on the dayshift, is an excellent and seasoned nurse. . She was efficient in her care and was on top of things and always had time to see how I was doing physically and emotionally. These two employees went over and above their service with caring and compassion. OT Shannon was just a delight. I looked forward to seeing her. She was always cheerful and caring. PT. Renata was very knowledgeable and professional. She worked around my limitations and found solutions. All of them should be commended for their service.
