Meet the Memphis Office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting.  At Senior Helpers Memphis we believe getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated. Rod and Kristy Marter opened the Senior Helpers Memphis office in 2009 because of their  passion for helping others and their interest in the growing need for in-home care services. Rod Marter is committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Memphis community.

We take in-home care very seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible.  Over the past 10 years we have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies.  They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand.  Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Memphis was proud to join the system in 2009.  Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

We have been lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community over the years, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

We will cover:

Alzheimer's & Dementia Care

Senior Helpers is proud to offer our exclusive program for seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia: Senior Gems. The Senior Gems program was designed by experts to help your loved one live the fullest life possible. We are happy to focus on what each person can do and what makes them unique and special. This positive focus allows us and you to treasure the person in front of us today, even as the brain changes with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive and degenerative brain disease and the most commonly known form of dementia. What you may not know, is that Dementia is not a specific disease. It is actually an overall term used to describe a group of symptoms specific to memory loss and other cognitive impairments that are serious enough to interfere with your loved one’s daily activities.

If your elderly loved one in Germantown, Tennessee, is suffering from Alzheimer's or another form of dementia, caring for them can take a tremendous toll on your own physical and emotional well-being. Because of the progressive nature of the disease, many families choose the support and assistance of home care professionals like Senior Helpers. As the leading industry experts in Alzheimer's and dementia care, you can trust Senior Helpers to make your loved one's life, and yours, much easier and more enjoyable.

We will work with you to create a customized home care plan that changes as your loved one's needs change. Our care team has extensive training and experience in providing the right level of individual care and support, while carefully monitoring everything from medication to daily activities. Our goal is to create a positive environment and activities that focus on what your loved one is still able to do, not what they can no longer do. We do this through our Senior Gems Program.

Respite Care

Senior Helpers Respite Care Services enable your senior loved one to comfortably remain in their own home, while providing you with a much-needed interval of rest or relief. As the primary caregiver for your loved one, it is important to recognize that it is ok to take a break from your caregiving responsibilities.

When a senior loved one needs a little extra help at home, the first instinct is often to offer that help ourselves. However, when you are caring for others, it is important to make sure that you are not neglecting your own health. While taking care of a loved one can be rewarding, it can also be stressful and a very time-consuming responsibility. You need regular rest to keep you focused, and time to take care of your responsibilities outside of your family as well. That's where a Senior helper Caregiver can be of assistance.

Rod and all the Senior Helpers staff were amazing when I was caring for my husband. He had dementia and couldn't be left alone. I was able to have a life outside the home, which made me a better caregiver for him. Senior Helpers were life savers for me and my family

I used Senior Helpers a few years ago when my dad passed to help with mom. She did not drive and had not been alone for 50+ years. I live 1000 miles away and couldn't be there for her all the time. Senior Helpers filled that gap. The caregivers were very well versed in taking care of seniors. I could always rely on them and trusted them completely. The most important thing was the communication between staff and family members. I never felt left in dark. Mom is now in assisted living, but I still call on Senior Helpers on occasion. I appreciated everything they did for me and mom during that difficult time. Thank you, Senior Helpers!

We have been blessed to find Senior Helpers with their staff of knowledgeable and caring caretakers. I was very hesitant to have strangers in my house 24 hours a day caring for my wife, but the ladies we have are outstanding, and Rod is very good about communicating with my daughter and me.

Senior Helpers were so helpful after my surgery. Rod has an awesome team that is efficient and reliable. I needed help for about a month, and Senior Helpers allowed me to rest as directed by my surgeon. Thank you!
