I was a resident for about one week last year. Right off the bat, I needed to use the bathroom but the (helper or whatever she was wouldn't allow me to do that and left me on a bed pan and left me there for what seemed to be ages. I was shaking so bad and distraught. I managed to call my husband who called the facility and a few people came in to help me (including the one who left me there. They cleaned me up but I will never forget it. Then was the food. It was cold when delivered and I couldn't eat it. I told a few people who delivered it that I didn't want it but one girl insisted to leave it no matter what I said and she argued that she had to leave it " it's a state law". I said there is no law to make me pay for food I do not like or want but I'm sure they charge all those people for lots of uneaten food. Some people were very nice, also. But the food situation definitely should be definitely looked into. My first meal was supposed to be meatloaf but I couldn't cut it, it was ice cold and flat covered in gravy. I tried the broth which was lukewarm and had a few pieces of maybe zucchini barely cooked and almost crisp but I managed to eat that. After that, nothing was edible to me and I know I wasn't alone in disliking the food. It should be hot and cooked and ok'd by the patient. I lost several pounds while there but please have someone check on where the food goes when a lot of patients don't eat it? I assume we are all charged for it, whether we want it (requested) or aren't feeling hungry enough to eat it. Several others agreed but may be long term residents. These facilities need to be observed carefully so patients don't feel lost without a voice.

During my Mom's 8 month stay at Seal Rock, I was very happy with her care there. The staff for the most part, is attentive and caring... I highly recommend this facility for your loved ones care.

I wanted to share how wonderful hospice, the nursing care, CNAs, and support staff were with my mom and our family during her short stay at Seal Rocks facility. Their concern and their attention to detail were second to none. We always felt welcomed and they always asked what they could do for us, to make it more comfortable. Our experience could not have been any better. Thank you for taking such good care of my mom during her stay.

Edit: My original post was for the rehab side of the facility for my Mom, she was admitted two times to that side of the facility. After that, she went to long term nursing, if you have to make that difficult decision for your loved one, the staff that worked with her daily were amazing- just make sure you have the time to make sure any critical decisions are followed up on. You must still be an active player in your loved one’s care! Orders and request get missed or ignored. Monitor and question. Be their advocate with management. Administration is lacking at times. Still a clean facility, lots of activities and some great & caring aides, nurses etc. I see several not so great reviews, however, my Mom received the best care here. The staff was amazing! Her occupational therapist, Nicole, is an angel, so kind and caring. Her CNA, Julianne was amazing and caring also. Her nurses- all fantastic. The facility was clean and organized. ( she has been to two other rehabs, for her knee replacement and broken hip so I have others to compare with) I felt that she was always safe and heard and treated just how you would want your loved one to be.
