The Ryze facility urgently needs a complete overhaul, starting with the environment and extending to the medical and administrative staff. It’s nearly impossible to reach out to the nurses or other medical staff. Some of the head nurses are not fond of questions and have a terrible attitude. However, there are also caring and professional staff members who make a positive difference. The housekeeping staff is neglectful, failing to change bed linens and leaving many privacy curtains torn and non-functional. Please prioritize your family’s care at this facility. The Ryze facility requires a thorough cleaning of the entire building. It’s musty, old, and extremely outdated. You can even smell marijuana right outside the main entrance. Some patients are left with full ostomy bags that emit a strong odor, permeating the rooms and lingering in the hallways. On the positive side, the social worker, Karley, is very professional. Please treat the patients as if they were your own family members. They deserve so much better! 😔🥹

I’m only giving the memory unit staff and the front desk staff five stars overall the place gets a two star Ryze nursing home. It is only for the staff that cared for my mom on the memory unit and some of them are no longer there but it’s only for Nurse Kierra she was excellent with my mom patient and always willing to communicate with me with such gentleness. Unfortunately she’s not there anymore. CNA Dee she was a doll baby my mom loved her I was always happy that she was assigned to my mom. Also CNA Albany, also a doll baby when she was assigned to my mom between her and Dee they both could get her to eat, and I love that she was always kept clean. Her room was kept in order. I had to go in there in the beginning and bring air freshener plug-ins and break that room down and fix it up with love and they maintain that for her as well as for me, I was always happy to come in and see that her room was in order and she was so clean. That’s something they did not do at Elevate Care Northbrook whenever I would go there to see my mom where she was harmed at she was never always clean. She smelled her room was stinky. Her floor was barely mopped so I definitely was happy with the memory unit of Ryze of Homewood. There was another CNA who’s name that I don’t recall, but I recall her, she is related to nurse kierra she’s too no longer there overall if I had to rate the entire establishment and all the staff outside of the memory unit, I would give it a poor grade of a one star because I ran across so many bad, nasty unprofessional attitudes even to the point where I was not even allowed to say a prayer of peace before we begin a third meeting that I was going to be having with some of the upper level people one who came like she was hard-core gangster during my first meeting there she comes down like she ready to go rumble and she was definitely a laugh moment to me and a few people that I shared that with it was hilarious. The only people outside of the memory ward that I will acknowledge is Miss Laverne and Miss Debbie the two sweetest souls that greet you when you come in to the establishment so overall, I’m only writing the memory unit staff that were at the time working with my mom nurse Carruthers is another who definitely showed my mom, kindness and love and also activity staff member Miss Tanya those two were a part of the memory ward. The Director not so good and everyone else under her not so good I say to all those who are there if you don’t understand the assignment to the fullest down to the nitty-gritty of the part that will wear you down don’t take good job find something more fitting for your attitude and if I had my way I would go in and clear house. I would definitely say for the senior aging y’all need to stop in and check in on all these nursing homes periodically and check out some of the owners. Last, but not least they will not reimburse you. I purchased items for my mom checked them in and boom stolen. They just kept giving her other people‘s clothes. I accidentally left the very nice blazer there that was stolen. They allegedly said they was looking for it never found it. I left a really nice umbrella there that was stolen so please if you must have your family there keep your stuff neatly tight to you bring them items that they will not want to steal or circulate because a lot of my mom‘s stuff was stolen or circulating so overall the nurses and the CNA’s on the memory ward were a blessing. That’s it overall on the facility, it’s not a place I would recommend for your family, especially if you love them. I wish I would’ve knew about their establishment forehand before she came. When i went there i was shown the other side they made it seem like it was all beautiful but when she arrived, I learnt that she was put on a side that looks like it’s for The Walking Dead
