Toured facility and was met with friendly staff and active residents that genuinely enjoyed where they live. I was treated to lunch and the food was good. Definitely a place for my dad@

My mother lives here and I have seen some amazing things happening at Royal Columbian. She has lived her for many years and under the current management we have seen changes that warm my heart and bring my mother peace and security. Thank you to the staff for meeting with us and addressing our concerns immediately. My mother couldn't be happier

This is coming from a Doordasher I walked in to take food I wasn't sure where to go and I noticed a elderly lady to my left and she was standing there for a while and then was asking for help this lady with blonde short hair look like the manager or director she didn't notice I was in the lobby waiting and she notices the elderly lady and says in a rude way what do you want and the older lady said something and the lady starts to say in a rude way you need to go back to your room and watch TV just like everyone else is what don't you understand about that and tbh if I was just there doordashing and saw a little glimpse I can only imagine them all day like that with these people I honestly feel so bad I have not stopped thinking about this and I hope whoever is reading this makes a change. And if you're considering this place I would think twice. I feel so sad for that elderly lady. If your considering working in nursing homes I hope you do it for good reasons and not money because a lot of these people should be fired for treating older people like this.

I lived in this place almost a full year and so glad I FINALLY made it out! While in here, there was a lot of broken promises, skimpy cheap sandwiches tossed at me over missed meals, my personal items washed with other residents clothes and down a black hole to never be seen again, consistently being forgotten on many requests, my kitchen floor breaking apart without something safer in place so I don't trip, a big black hole when it came to any of my medical needs (a newer facility doctor finally helped); and geez, much more! There are definitely good people here, including residents and certain staff that are very lovable! (Love & miss you all!) But, when it comes to their best staff, it seems they let the hardest workers go and keep the worst ones. This place does not understand that your caregivers are the most important asset of an Assisted Living facility like this, but higher management that has a comfy office desk and chair treats them like they are expensive flies that you have to swat down to a minimum! The very best caregivers are run ragged, overworked, given more duties than months before, and then they leave from being overworked and stress, or let go. So Sad... Huge Warning: This place took extra money out of my checking account that was not the amount authorized with the WA DSHS laws. I've heard repeatedly that they are not suppose to pull extra, not even debit or credit card fees. Residents, do note that particular statement above is on your DSHS paperwork that has the exact amount. If they are taking more, highlite the amount and that particular statement and show it to them! The five months this happened to me was due to their own internal mistake(s). Btw: We are vulnerable adults and that's downright sad that they'd take advantage of us in any financial way. They should discuss it with us before taking more than they should. The fact is, they owe me money, including replacing some items I thought they said they would help replace, but it seems they find it's easiier to dodge accountabiliy - by quickly replacing the employee I'd been working with to resolve these problem(s) with yet another newbie that says "I know nothing". There is more to say here, but I think you readers have the gist of it! NOTE: After waiting this long to be reimbursed, I finally thought I should do this review. I will edit or delete my review here if the Royal Columbian FINALLY gets ALL the issues resolved with me, and preferably with the other residents too. My last basket of washed clothes also had a brown and white striped towel, and other towels belonging to other residents. Not-so-funny part is, I had a note inside my clothes basket to please wash separately! It's been almost three months since I moved, with me fulfilling my part of detailing all the items and communicating them as agreed. There has been no word since that day. Again, So Sad...

Ruth the director is uncaring, cold hearted and highly unprofessional. I was told in a hallway that he needed 24 hour care while we found a new place for him to live. We took him out of there and they told me they didn’t know he was gone. Part of his plan was for night shift caregivers to check on his room hourly to make sure he hadn’t fallen so apparently no one looked in on him or they would have known he was gone. He was a fall risk so he could have fallen and bled out on the floor and no one would had ever checked on him. This place has failed food inspections and has no communication between staff and shift changes. Every time a plan was implemented to help my 97 year old dad it didn’t happen when I would ask the caregiver about it they would say I didn’t know about that or I’m new or I haven’t worked for a few days… constant turnover. During COVID no one notified me that my dad was in bad shape just that he was sleeping a lot. Finally my sister and I went in and he was severely dehydrated and laying in his bed. During the time we were there a worker came and left a hard steak dinner on his counter which he couldn’t have gotten up to eat it There were also previous meals on his counter uneaten. He could have died there if we didn’t go in to rescue his recovery….again no phone calls or contact. My dad developed a rash from infrequent brief changes. Someone was shaving his head completely bald, no one could tell me who was doing that. I finally had to tape a note on the mirror telling them to stop doing that. He was also emotionally tortured by 2 caregivers who were throwing his Navy veterans hat back and forth in his room and the hall and then hid it from him. The next day he told me it was a new rule that he couldn’t wear his hat anymore, he was very upset. He told me there was a male caregiver that was very mean and handled him roughly he was very afraid of him. If you care for your loved ones do not put them there it is a scary horrible facility. There is nothing Royal about it.
