Newly built, on the outskirts of Des Moines in suburban Pleasant Hill, Parkridge has sweeping views of the downtown skyline, state-of-the-art technology, and open, spacious private, and semi-private rooms. Our skilled nursing staff is available 24 hours a day ready with a joke or a hug and keeping everyone healthy. In our rehab-to-home wing, patients are provided every amenity along with receiving the therapies and treatments to get them back on the road to recovery and returning home. The new Penner bath/spa is a treat for everyone wanting to relax and watch their favorite program.

Our physical, occupational, and speech therapists also see outpatient clients.

Residents in Parkridge enjoy a variety of daily activities such as computer classes or Bible study, to keep everyone engaged. And then there’s the food! Equipped with all of the latest kitchen gadgets and tools, our chef who has been with us for years churns out homemade specialties for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

My mom was just at Parkridge for 88 days after her hip surgery. I would recommend this facility and had a good experience. The staff was kind to us and my mom, they took precautions to care for her needs. She requires a lot of assistance and wheel chair bound. The physical therapists are amazing. They work with the patients to find the best time of day for them and not a set schedule. My mom remembers the steps they taught her about getting up. She has dementia as well so that says a lot! If she didn’t like what they were having for meals she could choose an alternative like soup. Her favorite part was the activities through the week like crafts and BINGO and going outside to the courtyard. The administrators were also kind and reassuring. They went through all the options for care and they were very supportive and genuine and found ways to best utilize her insurance benefits.

We are extremely dissatisfied with the level of care our father received while at Parkridge. It often appeared that too much time was spent at the nursing station, while essential patient care was neglected. There were only a few nurses who demonstrated the level of professionalism and compassion expected in this setting. Unfortunately, the majority did not meet those standards. Our father, who required assistance due to being a stroke patient, experienced serious lapses in care. These included missed feedings despite needing help to eat, missed showers, and even missed medications. In addition, the room was not properly cleaned or sanitized. We also observed what appeared to be an ant infestation, which raises serious concerns about hygiene and facility maintenance. We found the office staff to be unhelpful and unprofessional. The assigned social worker was not present or available when support was needed, leaving our family without guidance during a very difficult time. Personal belongings, including clothing, frequently went missing without explanation. Overall, we felt that our father required constant monitoring by family members to ensure he received even basic care. This is unacceptable in a facility that is entrusted with the well-being of vulnerable patients. We hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to meaningful improvements so that other families do not have to experience the same level of neglect and frustration.

My grandmother has been on site for weeks and the entire staff has been absolutely wonderful. They go out of their way to make sure everything is comfortable and to her liking. The staff knows their patients so well and it’s clear that they genuinely care deeply about those in their facility. When my grandmother had to leave for a short time, they kept in touch, asking how she was doing, and were so happy she was safe and sound when she came back. My brother was admitted to Parkridge To finish his antibiotic treatment. Then my brother was going to be admitted for long term care. 2 weeks went by my brother had severe diarrhea. Crapping all over himself,bed,floor. On this day he was covered and laying in feces. When I asked nurses about cleaning bed and washing off himself they told me not until Thursday. I immediately removed him from this facility. Next day he was admitted to emergency care for 5 days with severe, highly contagious colon infection. Not to mention they didnt even check him after treatments to see what damage the treatment caused. Now my brother had emergency open heart again. The care in this facility non existent at best My brother would be dead now under there care.
