System raises rates every year at least 5-10+% depending upon the type of living situation. For seniors on fixed incomes, this can get expensive very quickly. Stay away from the "down payment" option should you move into their Independent living - it does NOT save you the kind of money they lead to you believe. Plus, they don't maintain your landscaping as should be done. It's contracted out and looks so. Appliances are from Lowe's or Home Depot and cheap. They also rely on outside contractors for snow removal. If you have a doctor's appointment, you have to call them to clear your driveway. Otherwise, it can be days before it's cleared. Some homes don't have mailboxes attached to the house. In the winter, without timely snow removal, it can get dangerous trying to get your mail from the street.<br><br>Not worth the money but I'm not sure any of them are.

My mother lived at Mount Pleasant the last four years of her life. Most of this time she was in independent living. She was transferred to assisted living the last 8 months of her life. I am writing this review from the perspective of a family member and a retired RN. The marketing department at Mount Pleasant was very good to excellent. Christine and others responded to my concerns and questions in a very timely manner. Mom's experiences in independent living were generally very good as well. The director and assistant director are social workers. Renee and Phil always went the "extra mile" to provide high quality services to the residents. The activity directors in independent living , assisted living and skilled nursing were wonderful! Jen in pastoral services was also very supportive and comforting. In addition to these staff members, maintenance and housekeeping did a fine job for the most part. The only negative aspect of Mom's independent living experience was the increase in monthly cost when she moved into the apartment building from her duplex. For $4,000 per month Mom was provided with a beautiful spacious apartment, 12 meals a week, all utilities except cable, and basic housekeeping services. My family and I believe this increase in cost was too much. In assisted living, I was pleased to learn that the director was a nurse. Missie was consistently accessible, available and present of the unit. She often responded to my emails and phone calls after hours, which she really shouldn't have had to do. The nurse aides, with the execption of two individuals, were pleasant, hard working and respectful. They ALL answered Mom's lifeline button within 3-5 minutes, which was amazing. Nurse aides Ashley, John and Beth stood out in providing Mom with very good care and always presented with a warm and positive attitude. The quality of nursing care on the assisted living unit was SIGNIFICANTLY VARIED. Nurses Kayla and Findy provided Mom with exceptionally good care and were very pleasant and respectful. I was always relieved when they were assigned to Mom for the day. However there were a couple of nurses that seemed to have a poor work ethic. They were hesitant to assess for, and administer PRN meds for Mom's constipation and end of life medications. One nurse in particular was very inappropriate and dismissive in the majority of her conversations with me. She very often reminded me of how busy and overwhelming her workload was. I would strongly recommend that Ohio Living invest monies into improving the quality of their nursing services. Merit raises and clinical ladder advancements would be beneficial. Also providing Missie with a CLINICAL assistant and supervisor, instead of a business person, would be helpful. These initiatives could be marketed at local schools of nursing and with perspective customers. Lastly, in my opinion this senior living facility is more focused on money than any other senior living facility I have ever experienced. Not only did they regularly send me donation requests, they approached Mom for donations on one or two occasions when she was in independent living! People are still charged a daily room rate after they die until all furniture and items are removed from the apartment. My husband and I were literally moving all of Mom's belongings and furniture out of her apartment while she was actively dying, which was very painful for me. Mom's estate is owed a significant amount of money, as you have to prepay for the entire month at mid-month. Mom died on the 14th day of the week. I have been told it could take up to 90 days to receive these monies??

We absolutely love living here at Mt. Pleasant. There are plenty of activities and everyone is always helpful. This has been a great choice for us.

We love all of the residents we have met and all of the great activities that are provided. We appreciate the hard workers in the dining room. We are so glad we moved to Mt. Pleasant!!
