About Veterans' Home In Holyoke

Veterans' Home In Holyoke is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Holyoke, Massachusetts, with a licensed capacity of 128 residents. The home serves veterans and their families seeking post-acute care and residential support.

Family experiences at the facility are mixed. Those who visit consistently report that staff members are friendly and welcoming, and the building itself is kept clean. However, families encounter meaningful friction in specific areas: accessing dental care involves a lengthy approval process that leaves residents waiting months for needed treatment, and elevator constraints occasionally limit movement through the facility. One healthcare professional noted that staff and patients alike speak positively about their time there, but individual interactions vary, some families have encountered staff members described as condescending rather than supportive of residents.

The home carries a 3.4 out of 5 Google rating based on 38 reviews, reflecting this range of experiences. Prospective families should weigh the facility's cleanliness and staffing strengths against questions about how timely dental and medical referrals are processed.

I was having treatment at the Soldier's Home until Covid. The called & told me I was no longer eligible because of VA.

There is a lady named Pam at this I did not get her last name. However, she was the rudest person I have ever met. Proceeded to give people snide remarks and just really condescending. Disgrace to treat a vet like that.

I regularly bring patients to nursing home facilities and this is one of the only places I would ever consider sending a loved one. The staff are great, the facility is clean and welcoming, and, most importantly, the patients I take there agree.

Seems like a good place with a lot of good intentions, but a real chore to get any dental work done. I originally went there to have some work done on a specific tooth that I was told by 2 dental offices needed a root canal. 3 months and a lot of pain later, I’m still waiting... First, I needed a physical ( which was just done at the Pittsfield VA) , then an inspection??, then I need a cleaning and a consult?? And when I drive 65 miles for my cleaning and I’m in the chair, I’m told they can’t proceed because I haven’t gotten clearance from my primary doctor because I had a stent installed 20 years ago?? Also my dentist tells me that the tooth that hurts might not be the one that needs the work?? Trust me, I know which tooth hurts!!
