About Marigold Rehabilitation & Health Care

Marigold Rehabilitation & Health Care is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Galesburg, Illinois, licensed for 172 residents. It serves patients requiring medical care, including those with dementia, and provides end-of-life support.

Family experiences at Marigold vary significantly. Positive reviews consistently praise frontline staff warmth and attentiveness, with families noting that residents enjoy the food and appreciate long-term consistency among caregivers. Several families reported their loved ones thriving during stays of two years or longer, and staff received particular recognition for compassionate care during end-of-life periods. One family wrote, "The staff here are AMAZING." However, critical reviews document serious gaps in basic care, missed medication doses for cancer treatment, absence of bathing and hygiene services for extended periods, and lapses in meal delivery and supervision. A few families noted the facility appears clean on the surface but detected underlying management or staffing issues upon closer experience.

The 4.1-star rating across 21 reviews reflects this polarization: roughly half the reviews are five-star accounts of quality care, while others describe neglect and unmet medical needs. Families considering Marigold should ask detailed questions about current staffing levels, medication protocols, and hygiene schedules before admission.

Great facility and staff. Clean and smelled good. I enjoy the longevity of their staff. It makes a difference.

The staff on the front line were compassionate and very caring. My Dad enjoyed the food. That, to me, was of the most importance. I do wish that upon arriving there would have been some assistance getting him settled, a chance for questions to be answered. It was made clear multiple times that upon his arrival I would be handing over a check for the month. $8,250, which I did. However, upon his passing, even with eight phone calls made to the facility and Tutura, the company that had taken over them, my calls were not returned, and the refund not made. It is an Illinois state policy that those refunds are made within 30 days of passing of the resident. After over 120 days of calls and paying my lawyer for a letter they finally paid it. Very poor management, and sheer neglect in the business side of the facility and company. Cynthia Alvarado, Galesburg Ill

My father has been in Marigold Rehabilitation & Health Care since February 10th. This facility accepted him with his cancer medication and ensured he would be given it daily. On multiple occasions my father has been denied his medicine. This medication is the only thing helping his cancer stop progressing. Many times the new on shift nurse will say they can't find it and leave his room. The facility has also stopped giving him the medication he has been given by pain management at Blessing Hospital, and his sleeping medication.I have made several attempts to speak to the nursing director, and he has only answered one time. The food the place serves is awful. My dad has lost around 20lbs in a month being at this facility. My family and I have visited multiple times, and have never once had a nurse come in during the hours we visit. My father sits waiting on his call light for hours at a time. The facility never has the same staffing. Most of the time he is also denied to get his showers. I would avoid sending your loved ones to this nursing home. Update. After attempting to email the Administrator Marco he never responded. This facility does not seem to care to actually fix the issues that have occurred.

Our Mom was cared for with such love. The staff was very helpful and hospitable especially at the end of her life. We cannot thank the staff enough for all they have done for Mom and us. They truly care for the patients and have such dedication. They are amazing!
