I visited my aunt and uncle at Lyngblomsten Independent Living at Lino Lakes and stayed with them for almost 10 days, which gave me a first class, in-depth experience of this beautiful community. I live in Florida and have worked with older veterans and thus have seen a multitude of independent living and nursing home facilities. Hands down, Lyngblomsten exceeds all I have seen through the years, and wowed me with superlatives in every category. The staff (that I met and observed) love their jobs and seem to be in the right place for their talents. Caring, kind, upbeat, friendly. The facility is immaculate. We joke in our family about our penchant for cleanliness and Lyngblomsten meets and exceeds our standards! And not only clean, but beautiful and tasteful interior design. Not overdone. Not hotel-ish. The indoor pool is amazing and a huge plus for your crazy MN winters. The fitness room is impressive (and clean). The food I had was excellent. They put a lot of time and effort into fun events and accompanying culinary pairings. It seems like they have many interesting field trips, too. But beyond all the amenities and lovely facility, I have to say, the residents are what really stood out to me. Everyone I met was welcoming and jolly and kind. And that's what makes a place home. ❤️

As a visitor, I frequently saw staff on their phones when people in memory care needed attention. I thought it was unkind how staff would allow residents to wander around trying to find their room, and not help them. They did not give lonely and confused residents enough attention, or even simply engage them in friendly companionship enough. Their phones were more interesting. Not only that, the person I visited was often suffering from skin breakdown due to staff failure to care for her regular hygiene. I would not put anyone in their care.

Kind staff but completely untrained in Memory Care. Staff is constantly on personal cell phones talking to people, watching Tik Tok, cruising facebook… no oversight by managers, and residents are often left unattended when they have needs. Residents are plopped in front of the tv and told to sit down when they try to leave. Often the programs are overstimulating and upsetting to residents. Activities are very limited and often inappropriate for those with limited cognition. During an outbreak of the NORO virus, the dining tables were not even wiped down between meals. Staff needs much more training, and they need more oversight.
