While we like all of the staff that we interact with at the facility, and the 3rd party therapists that work there are incredible, the corporate support has been difficult.

Our initial invoice has incorrect charges that we were told would be fixed on the next invoice, and not only have most of them not been fixed yet, but they continue to add incorrect charges on subsequent invoices.

Additionally, from my mom's perspective, the residents complain that the meals don't change much from week-to-week (they have daily specials, but they are pretty much the same every week), and they have been told that the menus are dictated from corporate.

UPDATE: Just received my 4th invoice, and we are now 4-for-4 with the invoices being incorrect. Double charged for meals, charged for external pharmacy, and no refund of late fees that were supposed to be returned.

UPDATE: I received my 5th invoice, and while most of the earlier late fees and other incorrect charges were refunded, I am still getting double charged for meals. If you intend to have someone at High Pointe, be sure to check your invoices since they do not have any quality control, and don't mind charging you extra.

UPDATE: High Pointe, and their parent company Spectrum Retirement, really dropped the ball in dealing with end-of-life care. My mom fell and broke her hip in February, and was confined to a hospital bed in her room. It was a godsend to have CompleteCo hospice care there to check on my mom and to liaise with the doctors. The High Pointe staff would check on my mom about every 2 hours, but they didn't spend any time with her, only doing health checks. They would bring up 2-3 meals a day (and charged us $5 a meal for delivery), but they were not helping her eat, and often they brought up completely inappropriate meals that she couldn't eat, so my mom often would have nothing if we were not there to help her.

To add insult to injury, after my mom passed, we cleaned out her apartment within a week. High Pointe withdrew the rent for March as scheduled, but we were told we would receive her final invoice showing charges and refunds after we turned in our keys. Despite multiple requests to see the invoice (they referenced in on their computer screens, but didn't share a copy with me), I didn't get it for a month, at the same time as they sent the refund. On the invoice, they charged us $345 for 3 cable boxes which they never provided. I protested this, and it took another month (and several emails) for them to say they would refund this, but I still have not received a check for the refund.

Lessons learned: I felt like the care staff did their jobs and built relationships with the residents, although they didn't have time to do more than health checks and medications. The executive staff and corporate HQ are more concerned about bringing money in (and not sending any out), and really do not go out of their way to do the right things for the residents or their families.
