My 84-year-old mom was just diagnosed and treated for a severe UTI, and the resulting dementia and physical disability demanded that she be moved from her independent living situation to a memory care. I looked at all the options and decided Highgate was the right fit. It's a lovely facility with really caring staff. Val worked with me to make this tumultuous and hasty move happen as smoothly as possible under tough circumstances. She and Chris, the director, also provided a 1-month Highgate rent waiver to offset some of the extreme costs we incurred to transition from her previous apartment that we were still paying rent on. Val worked night, day and weekends to coordinate everything with a local doctor and the hospital to assure we got mom moved into Highgate within days of her hospital release with every detail covered. At this stressful moment, Val, nurse Jennifer, JC in memory care and their caregivers have really lightened our burdens.

My near 85 yr old mother recently made a move from an independent living facility in Rochester, NY to Bozeman, Montana. A BIG move for her that was challenging, and she was nervous and uncertain about how she'd fit in, make new acquaintances, and adjust to not having a vehicle. Highgate was outstanding in their welcome and including her from the get go. So many of the staff and residents made a point to say hello, offer a hand, and make her feel right at home (including the maintenance fellas!), while also including me (her daughter) and Rick (her son in law), and encouraging us both to take part in the many offerings that Highgate brings. She's jumped in and we even get updates about the activities she joins so we have a sense of how she's settling in and what she's up to. Mom's 3rd floor concierge Lauren greeted us on move in day with a fresh made muffin and coffee, and has been a godsend to mom. She's used the shuttle, been on a few outings, commented on the good food, and was super impressed with the once a month flowers delivered to the independent living folks. And from my end, the whole process of working with the Highgate staff (mainly Val Damschen) to get her 'in' and procure a unit that met what my mother was looking for and would make her happy, was flawless. Staff was communicative and patient with my many questions and lack of know how in making such a move and change for my mom. I popped in unannounced on a few occasions before we signed out just to see what was happening, how the residents appeared to be, etc; and each time I found the facility incredibly clean, residents out and about socializing, exercising, or playing games, and both the menu and activities calendars inviting. We'd looked at 3 other facilities in Bozeman as possibilities, and we've been so impressed with Highgate that we know in our bones that mom is in the very best place for care, fun, its incredible staff, and the residents themselves. Highgate is her place. Many thanks Highgate!

Highgate has been extremely responsive to our family’s needs as our mom transitioned into independent living. They have built a truly caring community.

Update: Changed my review from 1-star to 4-stars. 😉 It's not very often you receive a call from the ED...in fact I've never received a personal call from an Executive Director. I have great faith that under the new leadership of Chris Darnell, situations like this will be under control. __________________________________________________________ I’ve spent more than two weeks trying to get a landline set up for my mom at Highgate, and the experience has been extremely frustrating. I was told to contact Spectrum, which I did immediately. Spectrum was great — they located Highgate’s bulk account and sent the equipment right away. The problem started when we tried to hook it up. We were told that only Highgate’s maintenance team could install it. After multiple attempts, I’m now being told they are actually unable to complete the setup. If I had known that from the start, Spectrum could have sent a technician days ago and my mom wouldn’t have gone 10 days without being able to communicate. To make matters worse, trying to reach staff has been difficult. On Saturday after 5pm, the phone rang endlessly with no answer. When I called again on Monday, it rang more than a dozen times before someone finally picked up. At this point, I’m seriously questioning the competence and communication of the staff and leadership. This should have been a straightforward request, but it’s turned into a stressful and unnecessary ordeal.

We moved my wife’s mom into Highgate Assisted Living last year. It was hard for us to transition her from her home to the assisted living, however with her large amount of medication she needed to take and not being able to assist her everyday, we finally decided on Highgate. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful and patient. Mom just loves her medication technician Kate who arrives each morning with a smile. Highgate has many opportunities for staying active and enjoying well-balanced meals. Mom has made many new friends and seems to be adjusting better than we expected. This is all due to the staff at Highgate. Thank you for all you do.
