My mother lived at Heritage until she passed away. Even after her death, they required us to pay for another 30 days. Apparently, death does not end the bill at Heritage.
We had already paid thousands of dollars to hold her room during several rehabilitation stays. Since Heritage insisted on charging us for another month, we took our time going through her belongings. Before we could finish, their maintenance staff entered the room and began painting and cleaning around her things, even though we were still paying for the space.
I also had to call several times to submit the 30 day notice because no one returned my calls. When I finally reached someone, I received little sympathy. Their focus remained firmly on collecting another month of fees.
Charging a grieving family for 30 days after a resident dies is cold enough. Entering the room and beginning turnover work before her belongings were removed, while still charging us for that room, made their priorities painfully clear.

I work closely with Kyle C. in maintenance and also most of the staff. Kyle has been fantastic to work with. It has been a great relationship and everyone is always friendly and courteous.

We selected this as my grandfathers home due to the fact that we were assured that he could age in place and have continuity of care- this was something he had not experienced previously and after the loss of my grandma, something that would be highly beneficial for him.
A couple falls, many complaints about his care later- they presented that they could no longer care for him when hospice was his next step.
When we had been so comfortable in making this choice due to what we had been presented.
It’s a shame what these administrators did to a dying veteran.
