About Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin

Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Pekin, Illinois, with a licensed capacity of 71 residents. It serves patients requiring post-hospital rehabilitation as well as those needing ongoing care for conditions like dementia.

Family experiences at Hallmark vary considerably. Positive reviewers consistently praise specific nursing staff and CNAs for their attentiveness, knowledge, and compassion, one family highlighted how their father received "kind and caring" attention from "each and every staff member." Families also note that residents receive adequate meals and personal hygiene care, and that successful rehabilitation outcomes occur with physical and occupational therapy. However, several families report significant gaps in responsiveness and facility maintenance. Complaints center on long wait times for call bells, housekeeping that leaves rooms uncleaned, and what one family described as inadequate staffing leading to patient care issues. A few reviewers noted changes in activity programming that have affected resident engagement.

The facility carries a 4 out of 5 Google rating across 69 reviews. While roughly half the recent feedback is highly positive, with families expressing gratitude for long-term care that lasted years, the other half raises serious concerns about consistency in housekeeping, responsiveness to resident needs, and administrative priorities during admissions.

Our mom Marlena Wheeler recently passed away at Hallmark. She was there for five years and eight months. Our family would like to thank the entire staff and administration for giving such great care and love for our mom. This includes day shift, night shift, activities, maintenance, kitchen staff and the administration! The team that is there work very hard every single day. The last three days of mom’s life were not easy. Especially when she passed on Mother’s Day. The entire staff was very patient with the amount of family that arrived at the facility to say good bye to our mom. On behalf of my brothers and family we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts ! ❤️

I spent two months in a hospital in AZ. Along the way I spoke with Hallmark in Pekin, IL, to arrange for care once starting March 6. I was going to stay close to my sister. The day before my flight they told us they have no beds available. What a sham. Doing some research, Hallmark has a lot of negative reviews. Thousands lost on tickets and stuff. Avoid this place.
