Just dropped off food. Nasty people, nurse was giving me a hard time about dripping off an Uber order. Can't imagine how they treat people. Looks dirty too.

My grandma had been there for the past 3 years, and I can honestly say as a nurse, whose only experience of nursing homes is what my patients tell me, that I was pleasantly surprised with my experience towards my loved one being there! Though the facility is older, and aesthetically from the out and inside does not seem like much, the workers more than makeup for all the “bells and whistles” most newer nursing home facilities have. They treated my grandmother with love and respect, as much as I’m sure they do if it were their own family member. The times where maybe she didn’t get her call light answered right away or her needs met right away had to do with short staffing which all nursing homes, and also hospitals are currently experiencing everywhere. My grandmother had dementia, and despite her probably being a handful at times due to her condition, they never seemed annoyed and even when I wasn’t there when I would visit her, my grandma had nothing but good things to say about those that took care of her. The ladies in the front were wonderful, and I felt like the housekeepers were always pleasant when I’d come to visit her and if I ever needed something they would get it for me if I needed it. I know plenty have not had great experiences here, or at other local nursing home facilities, but if you’re looking for world class care at a facility, you won’t find one anywhere. Your best option would be to take them home and take care of your family yourself. Up until her passing I truly felt blessed and humbled to know she was always in safe and kind hands when our family wasn’t there with her. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience over the final years of my grandma declining. Thank you so much Great Lakes staff!
