Our History

Genesis Village has been in business for over 5 years as an independent living community, where we provide enhanced living for our residents. Located at 2429 S. Reynolds Rd., at the corner of Heatherdowns Blvd., we've has undergone a dramatic transformation which has redeveloped the 170,000 sq. ft. community into a Retirement Community unlike any other you'll see in this area! With 154 private apartments including studios, one and two bedrooms, we offer a unique and vital community for adults 55 and older that includes lavish amenities and personal services that are unmatched in Northwest Ohio.

We are very proud that Genesis Village is locally owned and operated by Jim Oedy and Dr. Nathan Hill. Jim is the Co-Owner/President and has more than 20 years experience establishing exceptional senior facilities in Northwest Ohio. Both Jim and Dr. Hill are highly committed to giving back to the local community, especially senior organizations. Our local ownership has a vested interest in providing quality service and cares to community seniors that keep us focused on what really matters to the Genesis Village Residents.

Genesis Village offers many amenities for our residents to enjoy along with family and friends.

We have a spacious 2,000 sq. ft. atrium for relaxing, playing games, or just soaking in the sunshine. Beyond the two-story, floor-to-ceiling windows lies one of our large, landscaped courtyards the perfect place to relax, read or socialize. We have a high-quality fitness center with the right equipment to help you keep your fitness goals.

The Atrium also houses our new indoor pool and custom-built whirlpool. Nearby is our cozy Fireplace Lounge, with a two-sided fireplace that sparkles off the pool at night perfect for enjoying your morning coffee and breakfast, reading a book, catching up with your neighbors, or meeting with your family and friends after dinner. Located right next door is our Fireside Cafe, which houses a coffee and juice bar and serves our continental breakfast daily.

The Wellness Center is located just off the Atrium, offering residents and staff an opportunity to ask questions, get referrals, and have basic items like blood pressure checks performed. It is run by the on-site ProMedica At Home which residents can contract, as needed, for many skilled medical services and non-skilled help. Genesis Village also offers free scheduled transportation to medical appointments and shopping in the surrounding areas.

Residents can participate in a wide variety of activities and clubs that our current Residents and Program Directors plan, utilizing our six acres of gardens, green space, woods, and walking areas. Inside we have a large activity room, a library, and a multimedia theater with the ability to show large-screen movies and presentations. The staff at Genesis Village wants your new home to be welcoming to your family and friends, and we have numerous activities and events that are geared towards these special people in your life throughout the year! Genesis Village offers a unique lifestyle to our Residents with many benefits to inspire all areas of your life: physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and social.

At Genesis Village, our goal as the Life Enrichment Department is to provide a variety of activities for all interests. Whether it's morning, mid-day, or evening, there is always something to do! The Chapel and Prayer Rooms are always open, and worship services are conducted by guest pastors. We also have on-site pastoral volunteers to cater to your spiritual needs if desired.
