If you have a choice for your loved one, please try somewhere else. My dad has been here for about a year, and thankfully we are moving him soon.

The Positives:
My dad was safe inside the secure/locked building.
A few staff members do seem to genuinely care.

The Negatives:
Neglect of Facility & Basic Needs: The AC was frequently broken in common areas last summer, and there was backed-up plumbing that left him unable to use the toilet in his room for an extended period. Frequent caregiver staffing changes.

Unhealthy Habits & Weight Gain: My dad moved in at a healthy 145 lbs (per his doctor). In 11 months, he gained nearly 30 lbs because staff constantly gave him multiple hot chocolates, candy, and cookies because he asked for them ( the “I am full or have just eaten” is part of his memory issues and staff has been told multiple times. Despite his heart issues, staff refused to try basic memory-care redirection techniques multiple times, simply hiding behind "we can't refuse him" and repeatedly telling me to "just buy bigger clothes."

Mismanaged Clothing & Belongings: Soiled clothes are regularly thrown in the trash instead of being rinsed and laundered, despite staff claiming that's against policy. We’ve spent more on clothes this past year than in the previous five combined. Furthermore, numerous items have gone missing (glasses, shoes, toiletries, tape dispenser), while random women’s clothes end up hung in his closet—with the absurd excuse that residents "go shopping."

Disruptive Moves: He was forced to move rooms twice after moving in. Expecting three major transitions in less than a year for someone with memory issues shows a complete lack of understanding of memory care.

Lack of Accountability: Management offers unreasonable explanations for issues. Most staff simply deflect responsibility by claiming they "just came on shift" and don't know what happened prior. They will ask and then there is rarely a resolution.
