Home Matters started off strong but has gone downhill over the last couple months. Caregivers range from top notch to unprofessional and unreliable. Some seem to have a lot of personal issues that they bring to work. It’s difficult to get a live person at Home Matters when you call for help. According to one caregiver, Home Matters uses an AI scheduler. They can’t reach a live person either when they are having issues with clocking in on the app or if two caregivers show up for the same shift. It takes a long time to get a call back from the office. Some caregivers are excellent and look for things to do around the house. Others are not self-directed at all, and require us to give them assignments and reminders. Some caregivers just sit on their phones in a corner the whole time they’re here unless I specifically ask for help with something. There have been a lot of instances lately of caregivers calling out. It seems like about half the time Home Matters can’t find a replacement and we end up with nobody. It seems like maybe they are low staffed. The caregivers also don’t seem like they get a lot of training. Quite a few caregivers are not able to help with transfers, according to their profiles. We also have one caregiver who does not seem to know how to use basic household appliances, like the dishwasher. I don’t want to get anybody into trouble, because the caregivers have mostly been really nice and they are clearly struggling to make ends meet with multiple jobs and personal responsibilities. Home Matters takes a big cut off of what the client pays before they pay the caregiver an hourly rate. They earn much less than what you think you are paying the caregiver. It’s around half. There seems to be zero oversight of caregivers by the agency from my point of view. They don’t seem to notice when caregivers are chronically late. Home Matters doesn’t solicit feedback from the client unless a specific complaint is made. Supervisors never stop by. All of the daily communication log notes that the caregivers are required to leave in your notebook don’t even get checked regularly by admin. We actually had to call to have them bring over fresh sheets and pick up the old notes. Overall we have liked most of our caregivers but we had to request one not be assigned to us anymore. She was very competent and caring but had some personal traits that really started to outweigh the positives. I will say that I have had several caregivers who seem to be genuinely very pleased and happy at the progress I have made since I came home and have been recovering from my stroke. They smile when I’m doing my PT Exercises or get excited if I’m able to do something independently that I previously needed their help with.

The Home Matters team effortlessly helped our family reframe the care plan for my aging father, and it all started with one simple phone call. With my dad facing life-changing surgery this July, our family’s stress was off the charts. We scoured the internet and made countless unanswered calls to healthcare providers, leaving us overwhelmed and feeling helpless. Everything changed on a Friday afternoon when I found Home Matters online. Within two hours, my mom and I were on a virtual call with Finn, who listened with immense compassion and professionalism. By Monday, a specialized care team member, Christina, was sitting in my parents' living room. Christina brought instant calm to our chaos. She truly listened to my dad—talking with him, not around him—and her expertise in mobility care was immediately evident. She empowered my mom and gave us the reassurance that we can handle this next chapter. The very next night, I even overheard my mom bragging to her friends at her grandson's baseball game about how wonderful and caring Christina was. I’m holding back tears just writing this. Thank you, Home Matters, for bringing peace of mind to our family when we needed it most. We are forever grateful. -Michael Vieira

You can feel that they genuinely care about the people they serve, not just as clients, but as individuals. Every interaction reflects kindness, patience, and a deep sense of responsibility for the well-being of others. What stands out most is how much heart they bring to their work. They don’t just provide care - they show up with empathy, respect, and a real commitment to making a difference. It’s rare to find a team that combines professionalism with such a personal touch. I’ve worked in Senior Living for several years now, and I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Home Matters. Their compassionate, dedicated staff provide exceptional care to the residents in my community, and it’s been a pleasure working alongside them. And credit where it’s absolutely due....Sydni is a total rockstar! I’m continually impressed by her ability to manage a large caseload and mountains of paperwork while still delivering the highest level of care and support to such a sweet and vulnerable population. She consistently goes above and beyond, and she’s inspired me to raise my own standards as well. Keep up the incredible work, and thank you for all that you do!

Home Matters provided truly exceptional care for my mother during a very difficult time for our family. The caregivers were compassionate, professional, and incredibly attentive to her needs every single day. They treated her with dignity and warmth, and gave us so much peace of mind knowing she was in such capable hands. Communication was always clear and reliable, and they went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and safe. I’m deeply grateful for the support they gave both my mother and our family, and I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality, trustworthy in-home care.
