One year Private Pay, approved for Medicaid, they moved her to a isolated room and threatened a move out letter coming As soon as I found another place they tried to tell me we would owe for thirty days notice.

My mom was here for about 4 months, the facility is clean and well set up. The head nurse was very nice. But most of the caregivers didn’t seem to care much, multiple times I went in and mom was naked. The last time the med tech blamed my mom, this was the night before she died and she was unconscious. He clearly did not care. My mom died here 5 days ago and no one from the facility has contacted me with condolences. Her doctors have. While I liked a lot of things about this facility I think they have a ways to go with compassion.

My husband, who has late-stage Alzheimer’s, has lived at Emerson House Portland for just over a year, and I generally visit him on a daily basis for an hour or more twice a day. I couldn’t be happier with the loving care he and all the residents receive from the staff, the amazing life enrichment program the facility provides, and the emotional support I have received from both staff and management. In all my extended visits I have never seen the staff exhibit any of the behaviors claimed by Christopher (who spent all of 1 day there) or Shayla, and Ari. On the contrary, I observe the staff going out of their way to meet the needs of each individual and always showing amazing patience and respect for the residents living with this dreadful disease. I am continually grateful that I was introduced to Emerson House by a friend a few years ago and that they were able to accept my husband when I could no longer care for him at home. Being a part of the Emerson House community is making this difficult end to our happy marriage of 52 years so much easier. Like many, I pray that the day will come when memory-care facilities are no longer needed, but until such time, I highly recommend Emerson House Portland to any family who is looking for a loving and caring environment for a loved-one suffering from dementia.

IDK who this Christopher Crawford person is...he said he only worked a day so maybe our paths never crossed, who knows. My grandfather lives at Emerson House and every time I visit, I feel as though I am welcomed like family. As a person who identifies as LGBTQ+ as well, I was understandably concerned when I initially read the horrible review below so myself and some family members visited Emerson House and had a lengthy discussion with the leadership regarding Mr. Crawford's claims. As it turns out, this negative review is simply a case of a disgruntled ex-employee who is hellbent on ruining the good reputation of a wonderful community. It is so frustrating to me (ESPECIALLY as someone with a loved one who needs to live in a dementia home) how someone would so blatantly lie and attempt to scar the reputation of a place that helps people like my grandfather. I remember when we were looking for a place for my grandpa, me and my mom and uncle scoured the internet to get all the information we could about every place we looked at. When people who are mad that they didn't get their way about something go and write what boils down to slander like that, it makes it harder for the family of someone who might really benefit from the care offered at a place like Emerson House to get a good first impression and make the INCREDIBLY CHALLENGING first step of actually going to check out a place for their loved one. Shame on you, Mr. Crawford.

The first thing you will notice at Emerson house is how friendly the staff are, but what speaks more is the relationship between the residents and the staff. I was able to tour the building and you can tell that the residents feel comfortable being cared for by the staff, who are also very interactive and supportive of the residents. My grandma had dementia before she passed away and I know what it's like to be around someone with dementia, and it is truly noble that the staff at Emerson House care for these people for a living. I am considering apply for a job here in the near future
