Finding the right place for your parents is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make, and it can feel overwhelming. After exploring 7 different communities, we chose Discovery Village at Deerwood, and it has truly been one of the best decisions our family has made.<br><br>Seeing my mom happy, thriving, and genuinely enjoying this season of life fills our hearts with gratitude. She starts many mornings with coffee in the dining room, chatting with friends she now considers family, before heading off to one of the daily activities she looks forward to—whether it’s a fitness class, a card game, or an art session where she’s rediscovered her love of painting. There’s always something going on, and she never feels like her days are empty or lonely. She has made wonderful friends, stays active, and has a beautiful home she is proud to call her own—warm, welcoming, and full of life. There’s no greater peace of mind than knowing she is safe, cared for, and surrounded by people who truly know her, notice her, and treat her with kindness.<br><br>The food deserves special mention. Chef Ben prepares fresh, delicious meals every day, and you can taste the difference in every bite. My mom often tells us about the themed dinners, like Italian night or Sunday brunch, where residents gather, laugh, and linger over dessert and coffee. The aromas alone are comforting and inviting, and it truly feels like dining in a wonderful restaurant rather than a typical retirement community.<br><br>Most importantly, it’s the people who make Discovery Village so special. The staff treats residents with genuine warmth, dignity, and compassion. You see it in the way they greet my mom by name each morning, the patience in their voices when someone needs a little extra help, and the thoughtful touches—like remembering her favorite seat or checking in when she misses an activity. It’s clear they don’t just do their jobs—they truly care, and that means everything.<br><br>If you’re searching for an independent living community for someone you love, I can’t recommend Discovery Village at Deerwood highly enough. It has been such a blessing to our family, and we are deeply grateful to everyone there for making our mom feel so at home, so valued, and so genuinely happy.

After touring several independent living communities in Jacksonville, we chose Discovery Village at Deerwood for my parents, and it has exceeded our expectations.<br><br>The community is beautiful, welcoming, and exceptionally well maintained, but what truly sets it apart is the people and the dining experience. The food is prepared fresh by an award-winning chef, and it is nothing like the typical institutional meals you find at many senior living communities. My parents genuinely look forward to every meal.<br><br>The staff has been caring, attentive, and welcoming from day one, making the transition to independent living so much easier. There are plenty of activities, beautiful common areas, and a warm sense of community that makes it feel like home.<br><br>We toured several other communities in Jacksonville before making our decision, and for us, there was simply no comparison. If you’re looking for an independent living community that offers outstanding dining, a vibrant lifestyle, and a place where your loved ones will truly thrive, I highly recommend Discovery Village at Deerwood.

There are not enough stars to post or words to fully express our gratitude for the care team at Discovery Village at Deerwood.<br>Michele Dotts, Director of Sales and Move in coordinator, Shannon Fosterb, went above and beyond assisting us with transitioning my MIL to her new home. They treated us all like family, anticipated our needs, and walked us through every step. We were unable to be onsite on move in day, and they orchestrated all the details and arranged for a special lunch, her hair to be done, and tour. What an amazing new family to join! Thank you, all, for being the amazing caregivers you are for taking care of all of our hearts during this transition. You are each truly an answer to prayer and angels on earth.

While this is very nice establishment their priority is profit over people....dozens of residents are moving out because they have increased their rates by 10-25% in just one year. They take advantage of elderly knowing they are on a fixed income and would rather not move again. My mother has to leave because of the increase and the hassle to do so is so significant. I would never recommend someone living here. Money is more important than care for their residents. Stay away.

Once they suck you in with a teaser lease amount they will raise your rent each year...right now many people are being raised by 10-15% a year! They have a waiting list and know old people are on fixed incomes, so they take advantage of them. Really regret moving my mom he<br>re. Profits comes before people here...
