This is a review from a family, which had a family member in this facility for a few days recently. Our family member was total care. He was not able to get out of bed on his own or with help, and not able use a call light for help. I stayed with him for 12-14 hours a day, during which time no nurses or aides came in to turn the patient on his sides, reposition him, or to make sure that he did not have skin problems or respiratory issues. I did not see any CNAs or nurses come to check and make sure that he was clean and dry. Not a single time did anyone come in for his stay offered to change his bed, linens or clean him up, give him a bed bath or any such. In fact, the first two days he was at the facility we asked repeatedly for washcloths and towels, so that we could clean him up, and were told they had none because the linen truck had not arrived. The wound care nurse came in, introduced himself and was very nice, and was leaving the room when I asked him if he wanted to see his wounds? He was surprised and said well yes while I’m here, I will look at them so I showed those to him. He did not offer to look at his skin before I told him.Food service was sporadic. On two different days he did not get a tray and we had to ask, and they had to go make him a separate tray. When food trays come in on Styrofoam dishes, they told us they would bring the drinks later. On several occasions, I had to go out and ask for milk, juice, water, etc., because no one brought drinks back, and not a single person checked to see if he ate his meals or was set up for them. We knew this was an older facility and were assured he would be looked after. Because nursing staff was absent and inattentive, we had a family member stay with this patient most of the time. The one night we were not there, the next morning he was out of the bed from the waist down and choking on mucus. At this point, we looked into another facility which we have since transferred him to, and has been awesome. Our expectations were simply to have someone look out after him at least go in the room every couple hours and make sure he was OK. None of this happened. I’m giving two stars because there are a few good people in this facility, however, in order to get them in your room, you have to call and ask for them, because they do not come routinely on their own. The last day he was here, the call light was on for 50 minutes and not a single person came to the room, I went out at the desk. There was a person sitting at the desk, and all the nurses were in the room with vending machines having a conference or training. No one was visibly attending to patients. Unlike the photos shown online. Half of the front of the building has dead shrubs, the courtyard has trellises which are broken and falling over covers on the air conditioners are falling off, and weeds everywhere, and paint is peeling off of all of the overhangs. Inside the room, there are holes, the bathroom light did not work most of the time, broken bed wheels on the bed, broken bed, footboard, dresser, drawers, broken, TV cables dangling off the wall, makeshift curtains which did not shut out the lights at night from a bright courtyard light so we had to put pillows above the curtains. The last evening I stayed with him, I got there at 11 PM, asked the nurse for his medicine, she brought it at 1:30 AM, and I did not see anyone come in the room until almost 10 o’clock the next morning with a food tray. No nursing staff ever entered the room. To add insult to injury, when you come in the facility, there is a sign posted saying they are being competitive with other facilities and are raising their rates. The rates for this facility was more than two nicer facilities that we checked into. When we told them we were moving, not one person asked why.
