First off the pictures don't look like the facility. I would not recommend anyone take your family member to this place. Most of the staff do not care. There is only a select few. They tell lies to cover up anything that's going on. You will not get the best care at this facility. You will come out going to the hospital or in a body bag! They are nasty and it smells all the time. They are always short staff and will have someone sitting in urine and poop for a hour or longer. They do not listen to the residents when something is wrong. They make sure they care more for certain ones. You will not have a good experience here

I had no idea where and how to start the process of getting my Mom moved from a nursing home in Virginia to Alabama, where I live. I stopped in and talked to Taylor Evans who was in charge of admissions at Cottage of the Shoals. Taylor made it so simple. He took the time to answer all my questions and to take me around to look at the facility. His knowledge of how to get the process going was what moved me to choose Cottage of the Shoals, although I had looked at two other places. Taylor has continued showing attention to details, and making a special effort to communicate with my mother who has dementia. I have been so impressed with the staff who have made an amazing effort to make my Mom feel welcome. Moving her to a new place at 99 years of age has been a challenge, but I can see how she is quickly adapting because of everyone's help and attention.

I have just had to put my father in long term care. It was such a hard and heart wrenching decision. The staff of nurses and aids have been so good to my dad. I know he’s safe and well cared for there. Taylor Evans has been my personal life saver. He has walked me through every step along the way and continues to 24/7. Thank you Taylor, and staff for taking such good care of us. It’s truly a great place.
