My home is Cornell Estates Assisted Living and Indeoendent Senior living in Hillsboro, Oregon. I say my home because that's exactly what it has become. Not knowing what to expect I moved into a strange new environment. It included people like me who needed some help with daily living as well as senior citizens who chose to downsize into beautiful apartments with every amenity they wanted but without the care of a large home. I had no idea how the two different living situations would mix or not at all. I was to be pleasantly sorprised. I quickly made friends with residents on both sides and realized it is a beautiful blend.<br><br>Cornell Esrates has become home. With games of all sorts on different days, classes of higher learning as well as craft classes, book clubs, movies, conversation groups etc. I stay busy every day and find little time to be bored. There is something for everyone.<br><br>I love all of the caregivers and appreciate their hard work. They are like having grandchildren to help us.<br><br>The kitchen staff is the same way with young people who truly care for us with serving our food and being cheerful. Recently, there was a possible emergency that required the bldg. to be evacuated and the entire staff efficiently saw to each resident's needs in a timely and caring manner. Cold drinks were provided, and pizza and treats were served for the lunch that was missed. We have a great group of people to live with and to help in any situation. Thank you, Cornell staff!

I am a resident in the Independent side of the community. There is also assisted living here. I have been living here since last year and truly enjoy the warmth and friendliness. I can be as social as I like with residents and then return to my apartment for rest and reflection. The apartments in Independent are spacious and comfortable, with good closet space and the common areas are clean and well kept. Management is very responsive to work orders in a timely way. The activities program is robust and includes scenic drives in the community bus, trips to local farms and parks, rides to doctor appointments as well as board games and other activities. The three gardens are well maintained by the residents and are a beautiful space to enjoy.<br><br>The building is situated on a main street but is recessed from the street. There is plentiful bus service through Tri-Met and the light rail (Max) is five minutes away for trips to Portland.<br><br>Staff in the dining room, lobby and assisted living are friendly and helpful. They do really care about providing residents with good service.<br><br>Tours are available for both independent and assisted living facilities. Come take a look!

With my work I am in several communities a week and I always enjoy my visits to Cornell. The dining room is always busy and vibrant. There are residents meeting and conversing in hallways and the lobby. It’s a very friendly place and everyone seems happy and cared for. The staff is friendly and seems knowledgeable. The building looks and smells clean. Overall great job by management team.
