Delivering the Best in Senior Care
If you’re just starting to investigate senior living, you might have noticed that there are several options to choose from before you even move in! Fortunately, selecting from these different kinds of senior living care levels isn't a task you have to tackle alone. We’ve compiled some of the most important info about each care level here. And if you’d like some help figuring out which one is right for you, our helpful associates are just a phone call away.
Independent Living
Independent living is ideal for those who still enjoy an engaging lifestyle and want more freedom to pursue their passions. Residents can spend less time worrying about things like homeownership, maintenance and landscaping and more time doing the things they love in a place designed to feel and function like a home.
Assisted Living
Assisted living is a wonderful option for people who need assistance with daily activities like managing medications, dressing, bathing, housekeeping and meals. It’s a redefined independence that allows you and your loved ones the peace of mind you deserve and gives you more time to invest in the people and hobbies you love.
Memory Care
Memory care services provide quality care and support for seniors living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. With gentle guidance and visual reminders, these programs provide a secure, safe space with activities that meet a resident’s skill level and allow them to flourish even with advanced expressions of the disease.
Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing provides seniors with two services: short-term and long-term care. Short-term care programs are designed to provide recovery from surgeries, illnesses and accidents. Long-term care is for those who could benefit from 24-hour nursing care.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities
A continuing care retirement community (CCRC) offers multiple care levels on one campus, which means you don't have to move even if your healthcare needs change in the future. With a full range of personalized assistance and care options that fit your lifestyle, you can have peace of mind knowing your future is taken care of.
Hospice
Hospice provides compassionate care and support to individuals and caregivers who are living with terminal illness, no matter where they call home. Our hospice associates can provide on-call support, clinical and skilled care as well as spiritual and emotional counseling and music therapy. Let us handle the care, so you can enjoy the precious moments of life.

They need better drivers or tell their current drivers to follow road signs, but today I was almost hit by a lady driver by the exit ramp because she ran the yell sign and she didn’t even looked to see if a car was coming

My father has lived at Gaines Ranch (independent living with a small level of additional assistance from the very helpful in-house Brookdale At Home services) for 9 months. Prior to moving to Gaines Ranch (after living with me for a year and a half), he was not interested in exploring senior communities at all, but now he loves it. I visit daily to spend time with him and it is such a wonderful place to visit. I alway feel welcome to join in the activities, the staff greets me by name, I have made many new "senior" friends and my father loves being independent again and having a steady stream of activities and friends in his peer group. The entire place feels friendly, welcoming and very much like home. The director and his staff go out of their way to serve selflessly and address the residents' needs in an efficient and timely manner. No job is below them and they work together wonderfully. It shows in their low turnover rate. It feels to me like my father has actually gotten younger since moving to Gaines Ranch! It is all of the fun with none of the worry - for both my father and myself. I get to be the daughter again and just enjoy quality time with my father and he knows he is well cared for yet still independent in a consistently well maintained loving environment even when I have to travel out of town. UPDATE: 3 years later and my opinion has only gotten better. It is a welcoming place because of the staff and residents who all contribute to making it cozy and fun!

The staff is outstanding! They do an amazing job of hiring and retaining caring staff in every department. The location is great. You can be almost anywhere in Austin in 20 minutes or less - airport, downtown, campus, shopping, theater. Most residents are friendly with a great diversity in backgrounds. Menu is varied and very good and head of dining solicits feedback. Activity staff is outstanding and provides a wide variety of recurring and special events including music, exercise and speakers. This is a great place to live. If someone needs to move from Independent Living to Assisted Living, they are not moved to a separate building and not cut-off from their IL friends the way they are in many other places.
