This is crazy!! Someone I know broke his back recently and is currently getting better and trying to heal, he is refused pain medicine and is only allowed to take it after 12 hours even when he's still in pain! I can't imagine how much pain he's in and how sad he is.

I have a friend who’s been there for 2 months and she is NOT being taken care of properly. Took over 3 weeks to start therapy. They keep putting roommates in her room that have mental issues. There is so much more wrong with her care. Not only that, but once you get past the front reception area, the hallways are filthy and stink! The floors aren’t mopped well. Nasty. The staff seem nice but understaffed at night. I have seen day staff congregating at the nurses station. I pray I NEVER have to stay here. Or any nursing home.

Avir at Abilene aka Brightpoint at Lytle Lake took exceptional care of a family member during his stay. The residents have access to organized activities, the meals served can be ordered early in the day if a resident prefers something specific. The dining area is always welcome and the meals are colorful and generous. It’s like a mini resort. The residents spend their days socializing or getting around the facility. Avir at Abilene has daily events on the monthly calendar. You can keep snacks in your room, get orders delivered, have a mini fridge etc. Lots of ways to make your living space your own. Our family member was always clean, respected and safe. They were able to provide a more comprehensive post hospital stay with occupational therapy, PT, speech therapy and 24/7 access to a health care provider. They take care of everything for their patients, for my family it was the best site for collaborative care. NP Ashley, NP Leigh, Vickilea, Mechelle, Alexandria? and Mona (apologies of if I didn’t get the spelling of the names correct) delivered exceptional care and communicated with the family if there were any changes. Margi was super helpful with insurance and sleuthing out the dreaded benefits questions. Oh, they have a transportation vehicle on site too. We didn’t use it but we knew it was available if my family member had a medical appointment. Overall an exceptional skilled nursing facility. There is no way my family could have managed in home care at the same elevated level that was delivered at Avir Bright Pointe.
