About Briarcliff Health Center

Briarcliff Health Center is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Tyler, Texas with a licensed capacity of 230 residents. It operates a dedicated memory care unit and rehabilitation services including physical and occupational therapy.

Family experiences at Briarcliff are decidedly mixed. Multiple families praise the attentiveness and caring of the nursing and CNA staff, noting that residents appear clean, well-groomed, and content. The facility itself is frequently described as clean and fresh-smelling compared to other local options. One family wrote, "The staff is wonderful!! I can't say enough about the caring people in Briarcliff!" Activities programming and the memory care unit have earned specific mention. However, several families report serious concerns: staffing inattention during night shifts, inconsistent care approaches that confuse residents with dementia, difficulty reaching staff by phone for updates, cold food service, and complaints about staff rudeness and noisy behavior after hours. One family's experience was negative enough that they removed their loved one quickly.

The facility holds a 4.1 out of 5 Google rating across 76 reviews, reflecting this split in family satisfaction. Prospective families should weigh the positive reports about staff warmth and facility cleanliness against documented concerns about nighttime supervision, communication responsiveness, and consistency of care, particularly in the memory unit.

My Mom has Alzheimers and she is in the lock down part of the nursing home. It is so nice there. She absolutely loves it. The nurses are so sweet and attentive. They have activities too. They have music entertainment that some can attend also. Please call Briarcliff! It is worth it!

Went to Briarcliff Nursing Facility on Vine St. in Tyler to feed a patient. The place was clean & I was impressed that it didn’t smell. The staff were friendly. I was also impressed that my patient was cleaned, hair combed etc.. I realize there are lots of patients who have to wait on the Aid’s to be fed. This issue may be minor but the food was cold & tea was like water. Improvement needed on patients who eat slow & trays taken whether they are finished. Overall this is a very nice clean facility.
