“Made a visit to Blake with a friend to see her brother; as a 20 plus year nurse I was impressed with the cleanliness, care and friendly staff. I would consider Blake for myself or a loved one. I gave 4 stars and would have given 5 but we all know nothing is perfect.”
“I am an outside contracted caregiver and my little lady moved from a different facility to Brookdale East and I have noticed a positive change in her personality. She happier and more outgoing. She participates in activities and attends the meal times. It's such a pleasure to see her happy and cared for!!”
“Beautiful facility. Nice amenities and friendly caring staff. Food is consistently good. Lots of activities available for fun.”

How families pay for assisted living in Texas
Most families in Texas cover assisted living, memory care and independent living with private funds, often drawing on retirement income, savings and the proceeds from selling a home. Long-term care insurance, when a family already holds a policy, can also help offset the monthly cost, though it's worth reviewing the policy details early since coverage and waiting periods vary. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA Aid and Attendance, a benefit that can be applied toward the cost of care, and it's worth looking into eligibility well before a move is needed since the application process can take time.

About these figures
Computed on October 20, 2026 from the 15 communities listed in Tyler, 667 public family reviews on Google, Yelp and MyLivingChoice, state licensing records and, for nursing homes, CMS Care Compare. The best-rated list ranks communities by average family rating weighted by how many families have reviewed each one, so a 4.9 from three reviews does not outrank a 4.7 from two hundred. No community pays to appear in the best-rated list or in these figures; sponsored and partner listings in the directory results are marked as such. Figures refresh as listings and reviews change; the written summary was last revised September 25, 2026.
