I LOVE this place! I would give them 10 stars if I could. My mother is 90 and has advanced dementia. She was in a different and absolutely horrible memory care facility initially, before I was able to find Birchwood. I felt like I had been lied to so many times at her previous facility, that when we decided to move her to Birchwood, I was really uncertain about trusting what they told me. We visited and checked on her every day for awhile after moving her there, watching with a very critical eye for any signs that we needed to worry about her. And we saw my mother transform before our eyes. Everything they told me about how they care for their residents has been proven true. They truly are very family focused and are like an extension of Mother's family. They care so much and so gently for her and all of the other residents there. I have never heard anyone come anywhere near snapping at any of the residents and only see them interact with genuine care and patience. This was not true of her previous facility. Mother is always clean, her hair is regularly washed and even blown dry. She is treated with such dignity and honor and tenderness, and best of all, she is so happy there. Her face glows anytime we visit her, even on the days she isn't feeing well. Communication is exceptional between the staff and us, the food is very good and nutritious. Mother had lost almost 10 pounds at her previous facility and gained back all of her weight within a month of moving to Birchwood. The facility itself is small and warm and calm and just so beautiful. She loves the fish aquarium, and the little garden, and all of the windows give the whole place an open and sunny feel. They play lots of oldies songs throughout the day, the atmosphere is calming, and there is constantly staff around to interact regularly with the residents or help them in any way needed. I can't recommend this place enough. I'm just so thankful every day that we found them.
