Birch Grove at Fox Hill Village

Birch Grove at Fox Hill Village is an assisted living community with continuing care located in Westwood, Massachusetts, in Norfolk County. It adopts a small-house model designed for individuals who can no longer live independently due to advancing chronic conditions, with the capacity to accommodate residents' current and future needs so they may remain in the community for as long as feasible.

The community features two fully functioning homes, each with 12 private resident suites arranged around community living spaces, located in the Baker West wing of Fox Hill Village. Each private suite is designed like an apartment with personalized space, and residents have access to community areas including a fireplace, living room, open kitchen and dining area, den, and activity room for organized programs such as art classes. The household design eliminates long hallways and stairs to facilitate easy movement throughout the space.

Care at Birch Grove is provided by small, dedicated teams of cross-trained staff including nurses and certified nursing assistants, with a high staff-to-resident ratio. A nurse is on duty 24/7 to address medical needs. Standard services include observational care such as catheter monitoring, oxygen use, diabetes regimen management, and chronic pain management. Short-term or intermittent skilled care is coordinated with licensed home health agencies. The community does not provide certain services and will transfer residents requiring higher levels of care.

A staff member plans and oversees a diverse program of activities and events designed around residents' interests. Meals are prepared in the household kitchen, and residents can participate in meal preparation or make special requests, including accommodating special diets and family favorites. The community emphasizes autonomy, engagement, and choice in daily living.

Birch Grove is certified by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs. Residents of Fox Hill Village have priority admission to the community, though new residents are accepted on a space-available basis.
