I would not put any loved one in this place. My father went to receive rehab after hip surgery due to a fall. He was not in there 15 hours before he fell and got a brain bleed. No apologies, I was told he was a grown man and had the right to fall!! What he had, was a right to propper care and attention to minimize this risk. He then went on to fall four more times. They were more worried about collecting the money for the time he was in the hospital to save his bed! Even though they were the cause of his fall. They didn't care whether he ate or drank, a sad situation and place. He never got back to who he was before the brain bleed and never recovered. He died two days after being released. They do not answer the phone at the nursing station. They do not return calls. When you do get a nurse or NA on the phone, they are rude. The only time you hear from them is when there is yet another fall. My father was perfectly fine, living alone, cooking etc till his fall. He did great after his first fall and surgery, that is until he went there, received a brain bleed and then his mind left to never return. If I could change putting him in there, it would have NEVER happened. Find somewhere else to put your loved ones.

To the staff of Bayview Rehabilitation, I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding care my father Robert (June 2025) received during his stay in rehab. Your team professionalism, kindness and attention to detail were truly remarkable and made a difficult time more bearable for my dad and family. I also want to thank physical & occupational therapy staff, for all your work, helping my dad. The only complaint is dinner menu. Thank you we will use Bayview Rehabilitation again

My mother went in for rehab with a broken femur doctors plan anywhere between six and eight weeks of rehab. After seeing this facility in two weeks, I pulled my mom out of me immediately. I don’t know why they call themselves rehab. They may spend 20 minutes if that a day. The staff would have her laying in her own feces for extended periods of time. They put a catheter and they’re out of convenience. It took me a week to get him to pull it out and she ended up with an infection. The food was ridiculous. I’ll put in a photo of a dinner that was supposed to be a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato abyss soup. There is a few good nurses and staff that were very pleasant to be around and then they also have very nasty grumpy stuff that ignored problems and the buzzer. I wouldn’t let my dog stay in that facility.

Choosing a nursing or rehabilitation facility for an aging family, member can be a difficult and emotional decision. Especially when health and recovery or at stake my recent experience with my 90 year old mother who suffered from COPD exposed both the strengths and the shortcomings of such a facility a place where the people were nothing short of amazing, but where the medical attention fail heartbreakingly short, my mother was admitted to the facility following a hospital stay her goal simply to regain strength so she could safely return home The staff welcomed her warmly and treated her with genuine kindness. Their compassion impatience were evident offering reassurance during an uncertain and vulnerable time for family seeking a nurturing environment. This facility excelled at providing attentive, supervision and comfort, however as the days passed and preparations were made for her impending discharge, a grave issue surfaced one that no amount of kindness could counter balance just three days before she was scheduled to come home, I received a call at 1:16 AM. My mother had been rushed to the hospital. Doctors at East Carolina Medical Center quickly diagnosed her with double pneumonia a condition she did not have a entering the rehab facility. The attending physicians words were deeply troubling. With a simple stethoscope check, it was immediately clear that something was seriously wrong with my mother‘s lungs. This led me to question whether her respiratory health had been monitored at all during her time in rehab had her lungs been checked with the frequency and diligence required for someone with COPD was there a missed opportunity for early intervention and proper medical care The answer painfully seems to be yes, despite the facilities excellence as caretakers and companions the kind you want for your aging loved one if you simply needed a babysitter, there was a critical lapse when it came to medical oversight for families, considering a similar arrangement my advice Ensure that your loved ones medical needs will be addressed as thoroughly as their daily comfort. Do not assume that attentive staff in a warm environment guarantee proper medical care tragically my mother‘s battle with pneumonia was lost just six days after her transfer to the hospital her passing at Carolina E. Medical Center remains a stark reminder of the importance of combining kindness with clinical village While I am grateful for the compassion she received. I remain haunted by what might have been had her medical needs received the same attention in closing this facility may Shawn as a place of comfort and community but if you require skilled medical oversight for an elderly family member proceed with caution, advocate fiercely, ask questions and remain involved, compassion and companionship or essential, but they must be matched by capable and consistent medical care to truly safeguard
