My father was a resident at Atria Riverdale and I cannot thank the staff enough on his behalf for the care given to him. Too many to name here, but the residence has an amazing team of professional and caring.<br>Thank you for your hearts.

I am relatively content and comfortable at Riverdale Atria. Of note, I am not here for memory issues but I know many are. (I do at times forget what I had for breakfast a few days ago and am told this is normal.😌 This happened in my 20's too.)<br><br>There is a quaint town nearby in walking distance with many restaurants, delis, banks, etc. The living room is spacious and cozy with a fireplace. I like the library that has two computers. There are podiatrists, OT/PT therapists, and a PCP who visit the Atria. It is optional to see them.<br><br>We have an Engage Life Department and they organize/coordinate many great activities. These include groups, concerts, movies, exercise, and meetings. I appreciate that I am usually given my freedom. A community letter and notice of events are available each day. The activities are optional but socialization is encouraged. I adore that there is a small movie theatre on the premises with cushioned seats and look forward to attending more flicks. I saw some great movies here, ex. "Greenbook", "Cinema Paradiso, "La Vie et Rose," etc. I have enjoyed the lectures, especially regarding music and art appreciation.<br><br>I enjoy the comfort of my lovely junior one bedroom apt. My housekeeper who has been here many years is quite trustworthy. There is a Maintenance Dept. and they are responsive and effective. The handyman who does work in the apts is skilled. The maintenance and housekeeping directors are very good. They have been on staff a long time as has the handyman and other maintenance workers. They are trustworthy.<br><br>The food ranges from good to excellent. The meals have gotten more generous, tasty and healthier. One can eat in the dining room or opt for food delivery. There is a $10 fee for meal delivery/$5 fee for meal pickup. The Fish Tacos dish was particularly good as was the Chicken Milanese! One can always ask for substitutes based on his/her preference. I appreciate that they carry baby spinach and goodies for the salads, ex., cranberries/sliced almonds. Of note, the dining room is very pretty and carpeted. There is a Caffe in the lobby open until 3pm with lovely snacks/desserts/beverages for no charge.<br><br>Medication Management is offered where staff manage prescriptions, obtain refills, and administer the medications. There is an RN and LPN on the premises. Medication Management costs extra if one opts for it, or if it is needed.<br><br>As one would fine in any community, there is room for improvement in several areas. A quiet apartment juxtaposed against a Bronx Parkway, this city gal (with a little bit country) is smiling! 😊

They mismanaged my mother’s medication daily. I would have to check her meds daily. They do not have a real Dr at the facility. He is only there to take blood pressure twice a week. It was probably the worst decision in my life to entrust my mother’s care and life to them. She was there only 4 months and passed away in the establishment. I never got a truthful answer of why she passed away. If you truly love your parent do not fall for the lies and misrepresentation they sell you when you are looking. I have to live with that guilt the rest of my life.

This place is notorious for "Bait & Switch." The Sales Director will lure you into signing a lease by promising low rent and a low (3% to 5%) annual rent increase. Once you are settling in, you get a letter informing you of a 10% -- or higher -- annual increase. Let The Buyer Beware!

Very nice place looks like a hotel very fancy however they can always use improvement in th assist living or the memory care lg unit
