Independent living offers older people the convenience and enjoyment of community living. Daily responsibilities like cooking, cleaning and transportation are taken care of, and social events allow residents more time to pursue interests and connect with friends and neighbors.
Independent living communities are ideal for active older people who can perform activities of daily living (ADLs) on their own, such as bathing, grooming and getting dressed. People who require assistance with ADLs may want to consider Atria’s assisted living communities.

Atria communities offer private-pay rental apartments (some offer cottages or villas). No buy-in fee is required, and most Atria communities offer month-to-month rental agreements.

What is assisted living?
Assisted living* communities offer personal care for older people who need assistance with activities of daily living. Services can vary from community to community due to state licensing and regulation requirements, but assisted living services typically include:
• Medication assistance
• Personal grooming assistance, such as bathing and getting dressed
• Escorts to and from meals and events
• Accommodations for no-salt added and no-concentrated sweet diets
• Scheduling and follow-up with physician appointments and coordination of ancillary care services, such as occupational and physical therapy
• Incontinence management
A select number of Atria’s assisted living communities also offer services that include diabetes management, nebulizer and oxygen management, and catheter and ostomy care. Atria’s care is backed by industry-leading quality standards, with options that can be customized to individual needs as they change.
In our communities that offer care services, each resident receives a thorough assessment from a licensed nurse of their physical, emotional and functional status prior to move-in. During the first 30 days, a reassessment will be performed to verify that we are providing the appropriate level of care. Thereafter, additional assessments are performed no less often than quarterly or as needed based on caregiver recommendations or a perceived change in condition. These assessments help us see that our residents receive appropriate care and are among the factors we consider in determining and monitoring staff levels.
Discreet support is available 24 hours a day from our professional staff. We offer a broad range of services, including:
• Personal care – assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, getting dressed and safety checks; escorting to and from daily events
• Medication reminders – includes consultation with primary physicians and pharmacies, plus ordering and scheduled reviews by a licensed nurse
