Unfortunately, my Mum passed in June. The only thing I have to say is, if you can keep your loved ones away from here, please do. My circumstances did not allow me to do that. During Mum’s stay at this facility, an INCOMPETENT nurse Nana Owusua Conduah mistreated her on many levels. From being unprofessional, to lack of compassion, to being nosy (interfering in family/intimate matters), to the gossip, the drama, and the list goes on. Although, nurse Marie was caring and loving. Previous NP Michael was a blessing. During Mum’s final days, Nana did not maintain Mum’s integrity or inform me regarding her transition intentionally. I reported this to MGMT. Come to find out, the administrator (Ralph) is friends with her hence, nothing was done. I appreciate Tina, the assistant administrator, who showed empathy and sympathy towards Mum. I would love to see, if MGMT will allow their loved ones to go through what Mum did. Nana doesn’t prioritise patient safety or quality of care. What she did to Mum was not acceptable. If it was done to any of the management’s loved ones, they wouldn’t accept that! State needs to visit this facility on regular basis, so nurses like Nana don’t just sit around making a dent in the chair, doing absolutely the bare minimum and neglecting patients. She is by far the laziest nurse, I’ve encountered in the history of nurses I’ve ever met. She presents herself to work in a dingy manner. No concept of infection prevention/control (i.e. poor hygiene, filthy uniform, gets her nappy hair done at the nurses’s station, wears 10 rings, 25 bracelets, 50 anklets…etc), she’s constantly on her cellphone, takes long naps, eats not just her, but the residents’s food, disappears for hours claiming she’s on her break, and gets upset if she has to actually do her job. The patient could be on fire/dead, but she won’t care. The amount of things I’ve witnessed, during Mum’s final chapter is mind boggling. I can only imagine what Mum went through, during her course of stay here. She was too kind not to share, since she didn’t want to worry me. But after being there for a month, I have an idea. A nurse like Nana, should’ve been fired a long time ago. Instead, she is being supported by her friend in MGMT, considering the mistreatment of Mum, which is absolutely wicked! Sometimes, you have to take matters in your own hands. Keep your loved ones far away from here!!!
