My father was forced into this place because medicare refused to pay for anything better. If you can avoid it for your loved ones, go elsewhere. They don't give a crap about their residents. My father was literally dying and they refused to call an ambulance for him over and over again. He was vomiting blood and so incoherent that his roommate had to call an ambulance himself, because staff repeatedly refused. They have anywhere from 4-8 people in a single room labeled A-H in each room. One bathroom for all 8. They are so crap that they cut the residents desserts in half to make them stretch even when it's just a little Debbie snack cake. Power outlets hanging out of walls, water damage in ceiling tiles. Smells of urine and feces in every single room hallway and bathroom. Just save yourself and your loved one the heartache.

Although Westside Oaks did not cause my daughter Tracy Taylor’s death, they contributed to it by neglect and permitting her to have rampant bedsores up and down her back and posterior that I brought to their attention through several letters and meetings with Senior Management and Head of Nursing which they assured me was just redness with no open sores. I told Westside that my daughter was wasting. They said her weight was stable at around 200 pounds which we found to be 22 pounds of fluid in her belly and another 20+ pounds in her swollen feet and legs from her rampant ascites which Westside was treating with a Lasix pill. I also paid Westside Oaks $1200 a month out of pocket for 5 days a week, 50 minutes a day for 3 months in hopes of improving her walking. When Medicaid finally kicked in I asked if Medicaid could help with the costs - they said no because she had not made sufficient progress, although I was always told that she was responding well to the physical therapy as long as I paid $1200 a month out of pocket. When she was finally sent to Emergency at St Vincent’s Riverside Hospital the redness was diagnosed to be dead brown skin and several open bedsores from her bottom and up her lower spine. St Vincent’s diagnosed her as having 2 1/2 gallons (10 liters) of fluid in her belly. Her UTI was undiagnosed and untreated at Westside Oaks. Understaffing and neglect at Westside Oaks caused my daughter undeserved misery. Tracy died a week after being sent to St Vincent’s by the nursing home. She was 61.

I just want to start off saying some of the staff is really nice and sweet and could be no better very nice. The reason I gave it a 2 star is because the building was so nasty the rooms are horrible there were roaches everywhere it smelled like poop and pee all the time it was horrible and a nursing home should not smell like that . When you go to a hospital you don't smell that and they deal pretty much with the same people. You go in the dining area and there was roaches there was a big TV in there so loud you couldn't talk to your loved one and what they had playing on the TV was so violent and the cussing it was bad . There also a NP there name sammie not very nice very rude. I asked her about my sister inlaw and she told me that she didn't bring her magic 8 ball with her that was very rude and not professional. I wish the kind nurses caregiver had better because they deserve better. Those kind nurse caregiver is what makes a nursing home they need better so it makes there job easy and the people that have to stay and there families feel better. In this business there shouldn't be nasty staff .

If you’re considering this nursing home, I strongly urge you to think twice. From the moment you walk in, there is a strong odor of feces and urine — a clear sign of poor sanitation and neglect. There is no air conditioning throughout the facility either. My husband has been treated differently than other residents, and unfortunately, not in a positive way. When I raised my concerns with the staff, instead of being met with empathy or professionalism, I was made to feel incompetent by the charge nurse. Little did they know, I work in a law office and understand both rights and standards of care very well. This facility does not meet basic expectations of cleanliness, compassion, or accountability. If you’re already hesitant, trust your instincts and look elsewhere.

I was sent here by st Vincent’s and sadly chose to leave right away. You walk in and it smells of urine. The nurse and residents were fighting and the police was called. Then when the night nurse came they were all gossiping while people were still needing help. Food was nasty and tasteless. The nurse Ashley was super sweet I’d give this place an extra star just because of her. The rest of my experience was horrible and I was there for an hour. The state needs to look into this place and shut it down. 4 people too r bathroom that hadn’t been cleaned and had poop on the floor.
