So much better than it used to be! My stepmom is there (and she’s a spitfire!) This new group takes so much better care of her than they used to under the old ownership. There is always something going on for the residents and always staff around to help. So much more lively there now. We appreciate the staff! They are all Angels on earth 🩵

God Bless You! We are writing to you on behalf of our family to express our deepest gratitude for all the exceptional medical care our mother (Aunt) Tomasa Castro, received with warmth and professionalism, which gave us great confidence in your ability to care for my mother (Aunt). Throughout her treatment process, the Social Worker, Doctors, Therapist, Supervising Nurses, and Nursing Assistants, in the Recreation Department demonstrated unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of our family member Tomassa Castro. Their meticulous attention, clear explanations, and above all, the empathy they showed made us feel safe and confident that she would be well cared for at all times. For our family, this is our second time using the facility, as my uncle was previously a resident and also received exceptional care. The sensitivity and empathy show towards our loved ones is remarkable, for which we are deeply grateful. We also want to thank the Dietary Services, Laundry, Cleaning, and Maintenance team for keeping the facilities clean and safe. Their tireless work greatly contributes to ensuring the wellbeing comfort, and hygiene of all patients. Words cannot express our gratitude to each and every one of you. My experience with Vanderman Place raises serious concerns regarding clinical governance, resident safety, respect for and protection of patient dignity and integrity, and compliance with evidence-based standards of care. There appear to be systemic deficiencies in nursing leadership and medical coordination, including delayed or incomplete specialty referrals, inconsistent follow-up on chronic and progressive conditions, and documentation discrepancies that do not consistently reflect the resident’s actual clinical presentation. These inconsistencies raise concerns about care plan accuracy and regulatory compliance. Medication management practices suggest a reactive rather than preventive approach. Changes in condition were not always recognized or addressed promptly, increasing potential risk to resident safety. Hygiene protocols do not appear to be consistently enforced according to facility standards, which may place medically vulnerable residents at additional risk. Environmental concerns include poor building maintenance, a visibly deteriorated kitchen area, and persistent unpleasant odors. Food preparation practices raise additional concerns: meals rely heavily on highly processed products, frequently contain significant added sugars, and lack nutritional quality appropriate for a medically vulnerable geriatric population. The overall dietary approach does not appear aligned with preventive health standards designed to support chronic disease management and cognitive preservation. While rehabilitation services can be effective when initiated, there is no structured maintenance program designed to preserve functional capacity or slow cognitive and physical decline once residents no longer qualify for restorative therapy. I strongly encourage families to carefully review state inspection reports and monitoring findings before making any decisions regarding the care of their loved ones

Went to visit a friend walked in signed in nothing said to me about Covid, I walked around corner and was shocked all doors shut everyone mask on masked up and I asked is this Covid nurse said yes I signed out and left.. was disappointed because if sign was in door I would have never went in. I am high risk of getting sick. This facility need to do better . When my Mother was in St. Joseph Living Center they always had signs on all doors

I walked in today and found my brother not to be in his room. I checked in with Physical Therapy and he wasn’t there either. I decided to check the recreation room. As I walked towards the recreation room, I heard music coming from the room. I walked into the room and saw many residents listening to the singer, some of them even tapping their foot or singing along. I looked around, looking for my brother, and found him not too far from where I was standing. I sat with him for a while and enjoyed the music with him. It was very nice to see him out of his room and engaged in an activity that he really seemed to be enjoying. The gentlemen did a wonderful job singing and playing his guitar. Thank you, Vanderman Place for having people like this gentleman and his guitar come in and entertain our loved ones!
