About Thomson-Hood Veterans Center

Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285-bed long-term care facility in Wilmore, Kentucky, providing skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services to veterans from all branches of the armed forces. Since opening on August 25, 1991, it has served more than 3,656 veterans and is the largest facility operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.

The center offers a broad range of rehabilitation services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Thomson-Hood is dedicated to promoting excellence in the care of Kentucky veterans, with emphasis placed on preserving residents' rights and helping veterans maintain the highest possible level of independence.

The facility was Kentucky's first state-run veteran's nursing home. It was renamed in 1998 to honor LTC George Thomson, a World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veteran whose lobbying efforts helped secure funding for the center, and Beatrice Hood, the center's first administrator.

I couldn't be more pleased or impressed. The admissions coordinator, Sherry has been more than professional, caring and understanding of the needs and care of my grandfather who is a 100 year old WWII vet. If you're looking for a great place to care for a Veteran of our great country, this is it.
