I went to pick up my grandma on day 8 after a snowstorm. The roads were not plowed inside the complex and the sidewalks had 3” of ice. It was so slick I had to crawl on all fours at some points. The Village’s solution was that residents (who need food, prescriptions, etc) were told to not leave their units. I was told they would not use salt or de icer cause it would ruin the finish on their sidewalks. Sand would have worked but they somehow hadn’t thought of that. It is concerning that The Village is prioritizing the conditions of their sidewalks over the safety of their residents, many of whom use walkers, assistive devices, and generally are high fall risks.
