The Pearl on Oyster Bay

The Pearl on Oyster Bay is an affordable senior housing community in Bremerton, Washington, serving low-income residents aged 62 and older. The community comprises 81 one-bedroom apartments arranged in a U-shaped building that wraps around a central courtyard.

The building features wide doorways and other design elements intended to enhance resident independence. Each apartment includes a service coordinator who connects residents to community and medical services, as well as a One-Call system that alerts residents of activities and emergencies within the community.

The community participates in both HUD-subsidized housing and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program. HUD rent is determined based on household income, typically amounting to 30 percent of a resident's monthly adjusted income. For tax credit units, rent is based on area median income and apartment size rather than individual tenant income.

Residents are permitted to keep common household pets in their apartments, and service or assistance animals are also welcome. Pet rules are instituted to maintain a safe and sanitary living environment and include guidelines on registration, inoculation, waste disposal, and restraint in common areas. Smoking is permitted only in designated areas of the community.
