About The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence, Hardin Valley

The Lantern at Morning Pointe is a dedicated two-level memory care community in Hardin Valley, Knoxville, Tennessee, serving families throughout the greater Knoxville area including Oak Ridge, Karns, Farragut, and Powell. The community specializes in Alzheimer's and dementia care with two distinct care neighborhoods designed to meet residents at different stages of cognitive decline.

The community offers two memory care environments: Lamplight, designed for residents in early stages who remain relatively independent but benefit from added structure and engagement, and Lantern, which provides a higher level of support for residents experiencing more advanced stages of Alzheimer's or dementia. This two-level approach allows residents to transition within the community as their needs progress, maintaining familiarity and stability without requiring a move to an unfamiliar facility. Licensed nurses provide oversight of health, wellness, and medication management, with real-time care technology and pharmacist-led medication reviews supporting personalized care services.

Daily life at The Lantern centers on the Meaningful Day program, which tailors activities and engagement around each resident's past experiences, interests, and abilities, whether music, art, conversation, or hands-on activities like gardening or leading word games. The community incorporates the Best Friends approach, a person-centered care philosophy emphasizing each resident's life story and preferences, along with the Teepa Snow Positive Approach, a nationally recognized dementia care training model. Staff provide support with toileting and continence needs, restaurant-style dining with accommodations for dietary needs, and consistent routines designed to promote comfort.

The physical environment is thoughtfully designed around how memory loss affects daily life, with thoughtful wayfinding to help residents feel oriented, secure access for family peace of mind, outdoor courtyards providing fresh air and natural light, and 24-hour licensed staff. Each resident is issued a 24-hour emergency pendant. The community is conveniently located down the street from Pellissippi State, centrally positioned between Oak Ridge and West Knoxville, with Morning Pointe of Hardin Valley Assisted Living located next door, making the campus ideal for couples where one partner may need memory care and another needs assisted living support.
