About The Heritage Memory Life Community

The Heritage Memory Life Community is a memory care community in Syracuse, New York, providing dedicated care for residents diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or dementia. The community was among the first residential memory care programs in Central New York when it opened in 1992, and it emphasizes affordable, specialized care with a fully certified staff trained to meet the unique needs of residents with memory impairment.

Safety is a primary operational focus at The Heritage. The community conducts safety checks every two hours, 24 hours a day, with the environment and activities designed to stimulate residents physically and mentally while providing socialization opportunities. The memory care program follows a person-first approach, building on each individual's strengths to help them maintain a sense of independence and dignity.

The Heritage recognizes that caring for a loved one with dementia requires 24-hour supervision and continuous care, which can be physically and emotionally demanding for family members. The trained staff handles these daily care demands, allowing family members to visit and spend quality time with their loved ones without the burden of providing personal care needs.

Excellent place. What I like about it is that they definitely treat the residents with dignity. For example my uncle has a room with the door that closes fully, and even his own key to it. obviously the staff has some sort of master key, but the fact that the residence have their own key to rooms with doors that lock, goes a long way. The place is very secure, and the staff always is extremely professional.

My mom has been here since May of 2021. Her room is clean and practical. She says she loves how warm the place is even as it is getting chilly outside. The staff is amazing, there is no other word as fitting to describe them. The care is outstanding, we feel very lucky to be in their keeping.

The staff at The Heritage was great - it has been very difficult over the last 10 months not being able to visit my mom on a consistent basis due to the pandemic. If we could not visit FaceTime calls were allowed.

The staff here is incredible. Low turnover rate of management and care staff. Great communication with families from care managers and quality of life director. Beautiful old building with a full chapel and nice sided apartments. Small dining and living areas suited well for those with Alzheimer's.
