The Blake staff has been friendly, accommodating, and professional. The facility is modern and clean, and we have appreciated the focus on low risk living but also with ample activities geared for fun and personal growth. The Blake has exceeded our expectations for an assisted living facility with a team of professional that treat you like family.

The Blake is a beautiful facility, but unfortunately, the staff and management fall short in providing proper care. Communication about a patient’s condition does not seem to be shared consistently among staff. My mother-in-law suffered a stroke that left her blind and with short-term memory loss. She was unable to prepare her own snacks or clean her room. During her stay, her room was only cleaned once—conveniently, on the day she was leaving. Staff would ask her right after lunch if she wanted dinner, and of course, she would say no since she had just eaten. By dinnertime, she was hungry, but no meal was provided because of her memory loss. Some staff members were kind and helpful, but others were inattentive. One evening when I came by to drop off her medication, I couldn’t find anyone on the floor. I eventually discovered two staff members sitting in the library, chatting and eating. Sadly, her health declined during her time there. She lost weight and was in worse condition when we brought her home than when she first arrived. If your loved one only needs medication management and help getting to the dining hall, The Blake may work. But if they require any additional care, this is not the place—especially considering the high cost.

My mother has been a resident at The Blake for three months. She and our family have been pleased with all aspects. I especially want to mention that the assistant director of nursing, Matthew, was very helpful with a health situation that occurred. As a retired nurse, I observed his skill level in handling the occurrence. It made our family feel even better about having our mother live at The Blake. I would and have recommended The Blake to others.

The Blake is a wholesome and caring community. Not only is the community beautiful but, so is the staff. They work tirelessly to ensure their residents are happy and at home. The courtyard is ethereal and a joy to walk through. Plus the staff is so creative with the events, parties, and activities they plan for their residents. It is truly a gem and the best facility offered here on the coast.

My mother has lived at The Blake for 2 years now. Wonderful place and staff. Always trying to please the residents. A lot of activities and outside trips. Building and apts are beautiful. The front desk lady Angel is so pleasant and helpful, a real asset for the facility.
