For anyone seeking an assisted living home with compassionate, competent care, I highly recommend Sunshine Assisted Living! My mother lived at Sunshine AL for 2 years, from 2024-2026, and received the most wonderful attention and care from the home’s owner, Ms. Tigist Webb, and her dedicated and experienced team of caregivers. I had true peace and confidence knowing that my mom was at Sunshine, receiving the best care possible in a lovely home setting - and at an affordable, sustainable monthly price too.<br><br>As Sunshine’s lead nurse and manager, Ms. Webb excels at compassionate care and coordinates closely with families on all medications, medical care, therapy appointments, and more. For all their needs, residents receive professional, personal care with kindness and love from her and her staff, all of whom take the time to know and accommodate each resident, learn their preferences, and become an extended family. Thanks to Ms. Webb, Sunshine residents are also nicely compatible, providing each other a mix of friendly conversation and verbal assistance, while also respecting quiet moments and each other’s privacy and independence. Residents and staff alike welcome newcomers with acceptance, understanding, and friendship.<br><br>Other details I noticed and loved are that most meals are prepared from scratch and delicious. Families are invited to join residents and staff for wonderful holiday dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and residents’ birthdays are celebrated each year with joy. Family members are always welcome and may sit on a lovely outside deck if the resident enjoys that and weather is nice. Music and interesting scenic videos are usually playing and on some occasions, a musician or specialist may visit to help a group of residents smile, maybe sing, get up, and move to a rhythm if they are able. The facility is a nicely decorated mansion home, free of all clutter, and very clean and relaxing. Resident rooms are generous in size and the upstairs women’s bathroom one I wish I had at my home! For me, visiting Sunshine was always positive, very friendly and calming experience. I would recommend Sunshine to anyone in search of an exceptional home for elderly family members needing a high level of care.

My husband has been a hospice resident at Sunshine for 4 months. Before this, he was in a large facility in memory care. Because of frequent night falls when he was unsupervised, I was advised that he also needed 12 hour a night private duty care. I felt I had no choice but to begin to look for alternatives. When I moved him to Sunshine, the nurse/owner Tigist successfully brainstormed ways to prevent night falls. Her frequent communication with me and the whole hospice team is outstanding. I visit my husband daily in the common room and see the staff interact with him and the other residents. Each staff member is kind, friendly, capable, and extremely caring. The facility is always spotless and the meals are home cooked and nutritious. This is the best personal care my husband has received in his 7 years of assisted living with Parkinson’s. I have complete trust in Tigist and I would recommend Sunshine to anyone in search of an exceptional home.

I highly recommend Sunshine Assisted Living if you are looking for a caring and loving assistance home for your relative. When my mom fell and became ill there was no way my sister and I we could care for her. I feel so lucky that we found Tigi and Sunshine Assisted Living through a recommendation from one of mom’s nurses.<br><br>Tigi and the Sunshine staff were amazing and took such wonderful, compassionate care of my mom. Mom wasn’t able to do much at all, but they made sure she was bathed and dressed every day and got out of bed and into a chair, which mom greatly appreciated. They took excellent care of her health and medical needs and fed her wonderful meals (that made my stomach growl when I was visiting). They really watched out for her to make sure she stayed as healthy as possible, alerting us whenever anything seemed off and helping address potential issues before they became serious problems. I believe their vigilance and excellent care saved mom’s life soon after she moved in.<br><br>Even though mom was incapacitated and couldn’t join in the regular household activities they always made sure she felt cared for and involved. They read to her, played music for her, and celebrated birthdays and holidays with her. It was really a great comfort to me and my sister to know how well mom was being cared for at Sunshine. It was a difficult time for us, and while Tigi and the Sunshine staff were taking care of mom they also were taking care of my sister and me too by giving us peace of mind. I will always be grateful to everyone at Sunshine!

It gives me great pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Tigist W & Sunshine. Tigist is an incredible medical professional. Tigist is dedicated, professional, experienced, educated, and loving. Tigist took in my mother Pat under her wing and gave her amazing care for the last 5 months of her life. I don’t know what I would have done, if it weren’t for Tigist. She provided the most loving and attentive care anyone could ask for during a hospice situation. Prior to Tigist taking over her care, my mother was originally in my home, with 24x7 caretakers who did a great job along with assistance from the regular hospice folks visiting who also provided great care, but it was still hard having this all in my home while my spouse and I also worked out of our house. It wasn’t until I moved my mother to Tigist’s that I realized she could receive even better care with Tigist than when she was under my watchful eye at my house, where I even worked out of my home and was able to help or oversee the aides. I found out about Tigist from the hospice nurse, and I am so grateful, he had recommended her to us. While I was really happy with the caretakers, it was no match to what Tigist was able to do. She was not only on top of my mom’s medical needs, but she also gave care to my mother like a family member would’ve given her. My mother was incapacitated by her medical condition, but Tigist got her up and in a chair every day and ensured she had interaction. My mother received incredible meals and love and attention. Her record-keeping and knowledge were critical to my mother’s care. Tigist also let me visit every day and because of that I was able to also see how she treats all people and situations outside of my mother. I was able to see her deal with the hospice aides and provide them instruction, work alongside the hospice nurses, pharmacies, doctors and able to observe how she works with others. She pointed out issues and concerns and in one case, actually saved her life. She made sure there was action taken and resolution. Tigist is organized, observant, has an extensive medical background, able to provide advice and guidance but most of all provides love and care. I would not hesitate to send anyone, under any situation, to her for care and will share her name with anyone I know in the situation where they need a loved one cared for. My mother was completely bedridden and sometimes difficult to communicate with, having a brain injury, hearing and eyesight problems. Tigist could still communicate with her, and my mother lit up around her. I would not hesitate to share her name with anyone, and the world needs more people like Tigist. After seeing how she took care of my mother, she will now be a lifelong friend of mine. She is ethical, honest, straight-forward and the world would be a better place if there were more people like Tigist in it who care for humans and give them the best life possible under difficult circumstances.

10 out of 10! My spouse spent about six months at Sunshine Assisted Living in Alexandria, VA. We visited frequently, and never gave any advance notice. The home was always spotless and the food was excellent. The staff provided outstanding care, and my spouse was very comfortable. At times I felt that they were angels come down from Heaven to do this very difficult work. Thank you!
