THEY LOST MY MOM!!!
If I could give zero stars I would!
My mom started on the AL side, it was ok there, but the staff act very disinterested.
Mom quickly became an elopement risk so we moved her to memory care. It’s filthy there, the couches, the floors, and they have to bathe in communal showers. They are sat on at dirty tables and must eat with plastic utensils.
I have photos of the only staff member in the room sound asleep, for 20 minutes.
Then… they failed the most important job they had, they let my mom elope!
My mom was able to exit the main double doors, in plain sight of staff, at 9 am. She wandered to 26th street, fell in a mulched bed near the road where a stranger found her and called 911.
Summerfield didn’t know she was gone till I told them. My mom had been transported via EMS to Blake Hospital and she was gone for well over an hour. They had NO IDEA!
I was met at Summerfield memory care by a hateful staffer that wouldn’t speak to me without yelling. Their first question was not about my mother’s well being, and I was met by intimidation from the Director and head nurse. It was unbelievable!
After pulling my mother out of Summerfield, under a safety emergency, (*all her towels and nightgowns and several tops are gone) the Director took zero accountability. She blamed it on an offline door and offered no plan to prevent another recurrence.
0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Yes, I filed a complaint with the state.
New edit: they replied to this google review for me to call them. I called and left messages 3 times and no one has called me back. They continue to charge me the monthly fee even though they know my mother’s not there. I spoke with the director in person this morning, she was off putting and didn’t even stand or sit up to meet with me. Think twice folks, Summerfield memory care should be a hard pass.
I’m sending pictures of the only staff member in memory care FAST ASLEEP for over 15 mins. I was the only ‘non-resident’ there and was afraid to leave the folks alone so I stayed.
Zero accountability.

While my dad is happy at the facility, I have definitely noticed a decline in the cleanliness of the facility and also in the appearance of the facility. The furniture in the lobby is dated, worn and dirty. The lobby itself is filthy for what these residents are paying this facility should look a lot nicer. I have brought these issues to the attention of the manager, and she assured me that they are working on it, but it sounds like it has been an ongoing issue with ownership and now I’m being told that they are waiting on furniture to go on sale? That’s ridiculous. First impressions make a difference when choosing a facility for your loved one. Spend some money on your residents! There are several employees who go above and beyond to make a difference, Gwen being one of them. And then you have others who sit and the front desk and do nothing all day. It’s noticed.

My Mom moved to Summerfield in November of 2025. By February of 2026 we were looking for a new facility for her, and she moved the next month, but spent about three months at Summerfield.

My Mom has difficulty with managing a calendar and needed reminders for activities and even meals. Prior to move-in, the sales staff assured us they can do this, but they didn't deliver on it. Initially she was getting occasional reminders (a knock on the door at meal time) for meals only, and then that stopped happening.

We were also told she'd get a "buddy" assigned when she moved in who would show her around for the first few days. That didn't happen either. Summerfield has over 100 residents and can feel overwhelming to someone who is new. For example, everyone eats in the same large dining room, and if you don't know anyone it can be difficult at meal time to try and find someone to eat with.

Over the course of her time there I tried to get some of these things addressed. I found that for just about anything I needed -- getting meal reminders, getting Summerfield to administer her medications -- I needed to talk to Melaniee, the executive director. I found it extremely difficult to contact her. I would email my request and ask her to call me, then call daily each day, and usually after three or four days Melaniee would take my call or possibly just respond to my initial email. I don't know if the problem is that she's too busy, but from my perspective it felt like she really didn't want to talk to me.

One bright spot was Tammy, who coordinates the group activities. She was quite responsive by email and phone and would even email me activity calendars each month.

I'm giving Summerfield three stars because depending on how much care your loved one needs, Summerfield could work for you. If you don't need anything from the staff other than meals, laundry, and housekeeping, it's probably a good, affordable option. But if you need more, you're probably not going to get it.
