Nursing care was excellent, however, administrative care lacks. I called, emailed, and left messages with the top administrator to please get back to me with concerns I had. He totally ignored me, thus forcing me to contact the main office in Massachusetts for help. All it takes is one bad experience to tarnish a reputation. Nursing care was excellent. Retraining admin on how to deal with clients families who are already stressed is another. I have found another facility nearby that is not only less expensive, but care is exceptional! Make sure you take the time to research communities before you decide. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SUFFIELD, for the way they treated me. Certainly not with respect! AND I GUESS TOP ADMINISTRATORS/ OWNERS RESPOND AND CONGRATULATE POSITIVE REVIEWS.. IF YOU HAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEY DONT EVEN RESPOND! THATS WHY I GAVE THEM 2 STARS… TJHEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN FIXING THE PROBLEMS… As I said I DO NOT RECOMMEND SUFFIELD. There are many better options.

The staff at Suffield By The River is fantastic, from the curated tour with complimentary dinner by their chef to the nursing staff and care givers who exceed expectations with compassionate care and understanding. We couldn’t be happier with activities and amenities for mom. She’s made quick friends and though she was adamant this was temporary and she wasn’t going to stay, and in just a couple months she regained her strength and confidence and doesn’t want to leave!

My MIL moved in 6 weeks ago and is thriving!!! She had lived by herself in a condo with very nice neighbors-but this is so much better!!! Mom gets socialization every single day. She has become involved in the choir, Wii bowling, Rumikub tournaments, movie nights, flower arranging and even the exercise classes. Her cognitive abilities are the best we’ve seen in at least 9 months! And the best part, I can sleep at night knowing she is safe and happy! Great, attentive staff really makes Mom feel at home and she doesn’t have to wait for help!

Suffield by the River has been a perfect place for my mother. My family moved her up here from New Jersey where she has lived her entire life. She is shy and we were nervous about the move. She has settled in and is quite happy. Whenever people ask her if she likes it she always says, "yes, I have a nice apartment and everyone is so nice to me." The entire staff is friendly. There are numerous activities every day and at least once a month they have a special event where the executive staff participates. They will dress up for the themed occasion, help serve food and bring in live music. The staff goes out of their way to make the residents feel special. The aids and nurses treat my mother with warmth and provide the care that she needs. The facility is clean, nice and small enough to give you a family feel. It has been a perfect placement for my 94 year old mother.

My dad passed away a year ago and my mom could not live alone in Florida so we were fortunate to find an apartment for her at Suffield by the River. She is safe there and her apartment is comfortable with everything she needs. My mom takes advantage of many of the activities and especially likes the exercise classes and is doing great. Special thanks to the caring staff there and Valerie for really making things work for us when we moved mom from Florida.
