St. Barbara'S Memorial Nursing Home

St. Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home is a 57-bed, licensed nursing facility in Monongah, West Virginia, located 4 miles south of Fairmont on Route 19. The facility offers long-term care as well as short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, and is non-profit and owned and operated by a volunteer Board of Directors.

St. Barbara's opened its doors on July 12, 1961, built as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the worst mine disaster in U.S. history. The facility was named after Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners, and a statue of her was placed on the property as a monument to the miners. The founders established St. Barbara's as a way to give back to the community of Monongah and the surrounding areas.
