When my dad needed to move out of his home, we searched the Grants Pass area for the best place that he would be comfortable and could afford. Spring Meadow at Cascades was the welcoming gem we were looking for. They have multiple facilities on the expanded property under the umbrella of Cascades of Grants Pass. My dad was able to move into the "independent living" portion, which is called Spring Meadow. We found it to be a clean, friendly, and active environment. My dad was a very social gentleman, and he quickly made friends with many residents and all the staff. They have a small, yet sufficient dog park, which worked perfect for Gizmo, my dad's little buddy. They also have a garden that the residents can participate in, or just enjoy. There is a revolving calendar of activities and entertainment for the residents to attend and be involved. They also have a transportation service to help residents who no longer drive, and they can sign up for local field trips to help get them out and about. The kitchen and dining room are clean, and the staff takes orders off the daily menu like a restaurant. They treat the residents with respect and smiles. In fact, the entire staff is friendly, and exhibit genuine care for the people, and pride in their job. This was paramount in our satisfaction with where we chose my dad to live his final years. My dad lived there for over 2 years before his passing. During that time, there was very little turnover of any of the staff. This also speaks volumes, and is a strong reflection of Alexander, the senior executive director. The front desk ladies were always present, friendly, and willing to help. When my dad did finally pass away, it was just before his 89th birthday. Alexander allowed us to have a birthday party in the dining room, and we brought a cake for everyone to share. It was really a joyous occasion, and a celebration of his life with people that became his family during his residency at Spring Meadow. All in all, it felt like a community, and not just a place where older people are just "existing." We actually still go back every few weeks and bring Gizmo with us to visit his friends and the staff. It's a positive environment, and we couldn't feel better about our choice with Spring Meadow. Thanks again to Alexander, the personal touch from all the staff (special mention for Anessa, Beth, and Mary), and the amazing people who live there.
