Absolutely HORRIBLE Nursing Home. My Nan was there for two weeks and in that two weeks she was not well taken care of. One day she was in the bathroom and instead of the med tech waiting to give her her MORNING meds when she came out of the bathroom she placed them on her bedside table and never came back to give them to her. They were on the table pushed back. I came around 2 that’s when I found them. She was never assisted in what she needed. She sat in wet clothes for god knows how long. The night she died I was calling her and she would not answer her cell. So I called the nursing home to have them check on her and they were gone for 5-10mins and the nurse came back on the phone and just said she’s dead. No compassion. When we got down there they let us in the side door. Escorted us down the hall…which was fine. BUT when we went to leave we followed the removal man so we were following my passes Nan down the hall. We needed a pin to open the door. The nurses were to LAZY to come down and unlock the door we had to do it ourself again absolutely no compassion. Also everytime we called in it was like we couldn’t get anyone. Not good communication! Just UGH!!’ Never ever send loved ones here!

Yesterday I went to see my father at South Mountain Rehab Center as I do most days. Everyday I have been there I have seen SOMETHING thats brought me to TEARS. From patients begging and yelling for help from their rooms, to watching a non verbal helpless patient sit there moaning HUNGRY waiting for someone to come feed him(over 20 minutes) while everyone else eats to an aid literally hand gesturing the "crazy" signal at me in reguards to another patient!!! Yesterday however showing up and seeing the physical therapist doing something with my dad while hes COVERED in sh!t...literally leaking out the back and sides of his diaper, all over the bed, through the blankets and watching him walk out and not even attempt to clean him or get someone else who will left me heated!! I asked 3 aids who all had other things to do (I understand) however when all 3 claimed they were coming back and not 1 did....getting more heated. My dad sat in his own sh!t for 45 minutes before anyone came in. A completely different aid who was not even assigned to my father! She spent almost an hour in the room with my dad cleaning him, wiping him down, changing him and his bed sheets alone. Within that hour I heard all the stories of neglect and of the nurses and aids who simply dont give a hell about the patients. My dad has a catheter in and its now tearing him and its BAD!! he complained about this last week while eating about his privates hurting, I asked the nurse to please look at it. He checked it out and said nothing was wrong he was just sitting on it causing discomfort. Well it was so bad this aid called in the wound specialist after coming back from a week off work and seeing how it looked. Torn, swollen and clearly infected. The fact hes sitting in his own feces with open infected private wounds is NOT OKAY and im not even a nurse or DR. My dad has been complaining about his bottom hurting...I mentioned it the first day I was there and the lady told me it was because he fell. I asked the aid about it and she allowed me to take a look. RED, RAW and CLEARLY uncomfortable as he lays in bed all day. I can imagine laying in his own fecal matter for long periods of time can be a cause of this. Last few times I asked for assistance on repositioning my dad so he could be more comfortable I was told "he always complains" and he has to stay in bed he cant move. He already cannot move his hands, wipe his face or feed himself due to the edema so bad its tearing his skin. They have his cup of water on a tray close by but when hes thirsty he cant even pick it up to drink it. He cant hit the call button to get anyone to come in either so he lays there thirsty. His mouth was so dry when i came in there yesterday he gulped down half of his drink and kept askimg for more!! 🙄 My dad is now placed on over 20 medications and is STILL in pain all day everyday and is not even given anything sufficient for his pain. Nothing to keep him comfortable because thats a and I quote "a hospice thing". What happened to the health care systems? When it was Reeders Memorial home it was alot better of a place. There's not even a handful of nurses and aids that truly care and its disgusting. All I could do was sit there and cry as I heard him complaining when they were changing and cleaning him. Do BETTER!! Im not blaming ALL the nurses but I am reviewing to make sure someone hears this and does better..better pay, better ( more incentive like you need it) professional assesments for aids and nurses working there during the hiring process. Something needs to change for these patients.

I was in South Mountain Rehad for two weeks for an emergency hip replacement. Although I wasn't happy to be confined, the care you receive is excellent. The staff for the most part are friendly and attentive. Physical therapy also does a fantastic job in your recovery process. Administrative staff makes sure your stay and recovery are what you expect, and follow through with your concerns. I would go back if I need inpatient treatment. And, Im sure if you chose this place, your experience would be just as good as mine. I highly recommend South Mountain Rehab for treatment and cate.

We had an excellent first day at Sterling Care South Mountain. Randi, the nurse who spoke with my husband and me, was friendly, caring and knowledgeable. The room was clean and well kept.My husband said his lunch and dinner were tasty. What more can we ask?
