I was just a visitor to Skybrooke at Simsbury on a bright Saturday in June 2026. At 'just a visitor', I was treated as a respected and wanted teammate. I am an entertainer and I was engaged to bring some smiles, laughter, joy (and pensive thought) along with cultural spirit to the residents. From my first steps through the doorway where I was greeted with physical representations of the very cultural spirit I was to impart, and further as I noticed more indications of preparation, planning, and care which cast to include the residents in my topics. My next step was the warm welcome from the receptionist as she seamlessly called forward to announce my arrival and ushered the direction to the area beautifully backdropped and adorned with traditional decor to my theme. I was soon professionally, warmly, and genuinely made to feel comfortable by Resident Engagement Director, Amber whose efforts and correspondence brought me to Skybrooke. It must be understood that I perform regularly in senior residence centers and her vitality, care, and concern, expressed for my arrival was, moreover evident in her interactions with Skybrooke' residents and carried strongly to each and every smiling staff member I encountered. The sense of joy, and great pride in their 'home' was manifest in every greeting, conversation, and interaction with each resident. Beyond contentment, the residents and staff ostensibly enjoy their surroundings, lifestyle, and living life fully. My whole-hearted applause.
