I was caring for my husband with the help of hospice. I live in Tri-Cities WA. I felt I may need help besides hospice coming in twice a week. I chose Senior Services convinced by their representative Kim Fox. I was told there was a 3 hour minimum. The first time they came I realized that I didn’t need 3 hours. I and my son were capable of caring for my husband with hospice’s capable help. I called on a Thursday and gave my 2 week notice when Kim said I could have an hour once a week of care but it would be at a higher price and I agreed to that. The next Monday I got a call, their minimum was 3 hours. So I gave my 2 week notice again, had to start over and so I had different helpers each time for the next two weeks. I used them to help me in the house as they were obviously inexperienced in caring for a my husband’s needs, I had to show them and point out how to help me with him. He was bedridden. Nice gals but inexperienced and interestingly one told me her assignments were for an hour at different places. So much for truth, I believe because i had long term health care they figured on a definite cash flow. I had a $250 deposit to get back and they took half to pay for the last time. Fine, I waited for the $125 in the mail and didn’t get it. They finally told me after weeks I had to put the termination in writing. I delivered that and finally got a check in my husbands name, who could no longer write. I had to go to the office and they initialed the change in the check. But to top this all off, in the middle of all this I got a visit from the state’s Adult Protection Agency. They had received a concern about my care of my husband supposedly because they were concerned about my burning out. She interviewed me and then, privately, my husband who was coping with being bedridden and growing weaker over time because of Parkinson’s.i checked with Hospice who said they had no problem with my care and knew I was dedicated to my husband’s care and even sent their social worker out while the Adult Service person was there. So it had to be Senior Helpers who reported me since they were the only ones I had brought into my home. I was told they would call with a decision. I was not worried and I never heard from them again. But having this happen amidst caring for my sweet husband added an element of stress, though I wasn’t worried you never know once an government agency is concerned. Senior Services were more concerned with continuing their help in my home for the money, but they underestimated my realizing who had reported me. I would never hire them again for anyone at anytime. Mixed messages, inexperienced aides, lies and red tape and questionable ethics are not what anyone needs in an already stressful situation. There are better services.
